When the 2019 season originally began at Flamboro Speedway, Mark Thorne was supposed to just run a part-time campaign, filling in Phil Givens. Though a couple weeks in, plans would change with him becoming the primary driver.
Taking the lead in the final laps, Mark Thorne scored the victory in the first McClurkin Properties Cambridge Pure Stock feature on Saturday night at Flamboro Speedway.
With tons of smiles through the pits, it was easy to see that Kid’s Ride Night was a success at Flamboro Speedway with a bunch of the younger racing fans getting to ride around the speedway on-board a racecar. Though on top of that, they were treated to some great racing on-track.
Starting on pole, Mark Thorne led flag-to-flag en route to winning the McClurkin Properties Cambridge Pure Stock feature at Flamboro Speedway.
Despite running into power issues, Flamboro Speedway was able to get in the entire night of racing, thanks to J.R. Fitzpatrick loaning his generator. It was a gesture that earned him the EPIC Racewear Move of the Night Award from the track.
Despite weather playing havoc with the schedule and forcing a half-hour rain delay midway through, Flamboro Speedway was able to get in the majority of the features on Saturday night.
As the temperatures continue to stay hot, the action does on-track at Flamboro Speedway as well. Children were entertained on Saturday night, between receiving bikes and backpacks, to riding in the cars before the races began. The adults were also entertained, but we’d expect that based on the on-track action.
