Flamboro Speedway – August 11, 2018 Results

Despite weather playing havoc with the schedule and forcing a half-hour rain delay midway through, Flamboro Speedway was able to get in the majority of the features on Saturday night.

Canadian Vintage Modifieds

The visiting class for the second straight week in a row saw a third different driver win the feature, as Daryl Henwood picked up the win ahead of Mike Podd, Steve Trendell, Max Wright, Chris Bochsler, Brian Atkinson, Jeremy Barton, Amanda Stoner and Brian Watson. Unfortunately, Bob Gilbert failed to finish after some issues.

The second feature was rained out, unfortunately.

Ray’s Auto Center & Towing Super Stocks

The momentum from scoring the victory last weekend continued into this week for Randy Rusnell, as he picked up the checkered flag in the first feature. Rick Hay finished second for a season-best, followed by Brad Collison, Bobby Mercer, Steve Book, Jeff Bean, and AJ Miller. Unfortunately, Kelsey Lamont ran into issues and failed to finish.

The second feature would not run the full distance, as only half of the laps (10) were completed before rain ended the night early. It was a familiar face in front, as the No. 7 team scored a win for the third straight week with Bobby Mercer visiting victory lane ahead of Collison, Rusnell, Book and Hay. Unfortunately, Lamont, Bean and Miller failed to finish.

Klotz Auto Repair and Engine Shop Mini Stocks

After coming close over the past couple of weeks, Karl Sault scored his first Mini Stock feature win since early in the season ahead of Shawn Taylor, Wayde Thorne, Jake Gilbert, and Erik Dalla Riva. Dave Gallinger rebounded for some mid-season bad luck for a sixth ahead of Rich Schwartzenburg, Matt Young, Kyle Istead, Jonathan Ayrton, Mike Gilmour, Kyle DaSilva, and Jason LeBlanc. Mike Hooper and Jordan Morris would fail to finish the event after issues, while Kaitlyn Wallace did not start due to more motor problems.

The second feature saw a couple incidents with Jake Gilbert making his way from deep in the field to score the victory for the second straight week in a row. Shawn Taylor finished second once again ahead of Erik Dalla Riva, Jonathan Ayrton, Wayde Thorne, Kyle Istead, Rich Schwartzenburg, Dave Gallinger, Karl Sault, Matt Young, Kyle DaSilva, and Jason LeBlanc. Mike Gilmour, Jordan Morris, and Kaitlyn Wallace failed to finish, while Jason LeBlanc failed to start.

McClurkin Properties Cambridge Pure Stocks

Starting on the front row, Mark Thorne led flag-to-flag en route to winning the first feature ahead of Courtney Scott, Phil Givens, Dylan Sharpe, Clinton Kerkhoff, Dale Lucas, Ryan Hillar, Leo Labarbera, Jared Bodnar, Jordan Morris, Rodney Rutherford, John Cote, and RJ Croteau. Blake Near would fail to finish.

The second feature saw a couple of incidents with Ryan Hillar making his way to the front to score the win ahead of Jared Bodnar, Clinton Kerkhoff, Dale Lucas, Phil Givens, Jordan Morris, Dylan Sharpe, Leo Labarbera, Mark Thorne, Courtney Scott, Rodney Rutherford, and Michael Kenny. John Cote and Blake Near would fail to finish.

Pro 4 Modifieds

On Saturday night, a couple new faces joined the field to mix things up with the front runners, and it showed as Stan Pokupec won the first feature. Mike Westwood finished second filling in for Dan Pettit, followed by Cliff Hodgkinson, Mark Lucas, Dave Hodgkinson, Shean Carey, Rodney Rutherford, and Larry Westwood. Unfortunately, Shannon Morris was unable to take the green flag.

The new faces wouldn’t sweep the night, as Rodney Rutherford kept his streak of wins going by snatching the checkered flag in the second feature. Mark Lucas finished second, followed by Dave Hodgkinson, Stan Pokupec, Mike Westwood, and Larry Westwood. Cliff Hodgkinson and Shean Carey would fail to finish, while Shannon Morris failed to start.

The action at Flamboro Speedway isn’t set to slow down as this Saturday, August 18, the track will play host to the Super Stocks, Jr Late Models, Mini Trucks, Pro 4 Modifieds, and Lucas Oil T.Q. Can-Am Midgets.

Also, don’t forget the Gold Rush 100 takes place on Sunday, August 19, featuring the best Pro Late Model drivers in the province trying to take home the $10,000 payday. Also on the card for that afternoon is a Pure Stock Invitational.
