MILGROVE, Ontario — It was a tale of two tapes on Sunday at Flamboro Speedway as a pair of drivers were celebrating in victory lane following the final round of the Grisdale Triple Crown Championship.
Jake Sheridan would post the quickest lap in qualifying at 15.113 seconds ahead of Rick Burbridge, Shae Gemmell, Jake Gilbert, and Billy Schwartzenburg. Shawn Chenoweth qualified sixth, followed by Mark Burbridge, Shane Maginnis, J.R. Fitzpatrick, and Kevin Albers.
Tyler Di Venanzo qualified 11th, followed by Lane Zardo, Shawn McGlynn, Carson Nagy, Trevor Monaghan, Chad Corcoran, Mike Westwood, David Gallinger, Mike Klotz, and Chris Howse. Chenoweth would drop to the rear of the field as he was the highest qualifier to accept the $3,000 to win challenge for giving up his starting spot.
The start of the event would not go smoothly, with the caution coming out on the opening lap for Westwood going around on the front stretch. The second attempt would not go any cleaner, with the yellow flag flying on Lap 2 for an incident involving Monaghan, Gallinger, Howse, and Zardo in turns three and four.
The third attempt went smoothly with Gilbert taking over the top spot ahead of Sheridan, Gemmell, Fitzpatrick, and Rick Burbridge. Westwood would go around for another spin on Lap 9, but due to spinning into the backstretch grass out of harm’s way, there would be no yellow flag waved. The third caution came out instead on Lap 12 for Sheridan spinning on the frontstretch.
Gilbert got a good restart to keep the top spot ahead of Fitzpatrick, Maginnis, Gemmell, and Rick Burbridge. Albers would then get alongside Rick Burbridge for fifth on Lap 16, completing the pass a lap later, bringing Chenoweth and Schwartzenburg through with him.
Further up towards the front, Maginnis would get alongside Fitzpatrick for second on Lap 20, completing the pass a lap later. Fitzpatrick now ran third ahead of Gemmell, and Albers. Gemmell would get alongside Fitzpatrick for third on Lap 23, completing the pass a lap later. Meanwhile, both Westwood and Elliott both pulled off the track, done for the event.
The race would continue to get interesting, as Nagy would get sideways off of turn two on Lap 27, but managed to hang onto the car. Then on Lap 29, Chenoweth would tag the back of Albers, enabling him to move up into fifth. Meanwhile, Rick Burbridge headed off the track pit side on Lap 30.
The battle for the lead got interesting on Lap 31, as the leaders weaved their way through traffic. They would come up on Monaghan and Scott Entwhistle battling side-by-side, allowing Maginnis to get alongside Gilbert for the top spot. Entwhistle would then get loose off of turn two with the pressure on him, going around for the spin and the race’s fourth caution.
The restart would see McGlynn and Albers make contact, but keep going as Maginnis went around Gilbert for the top spot. The fifth caution then came out a lap later for Albers rolling to a stop.
Maginnis got a good restart to take over the lead as Chenoweth moved up into second ahead of Maginnis, Fitzpatrick, and Schwartzenburg. Meanwhile, McGlynn would go spinning through turns one and on Lap 41 courtesy of Corcoran for the sixth caution.
Maginnis got another good restart as Gemmell moved back into second ahead of Chenoweth, Schwartzenburg, and Sheridan. The seventh caution then came out on Lap 48 for Burbridge spinning Howse in turns three and four.
The eighth caution would come out on the restart courtesy of a jump by Maginnis. The second attempt went cleanly at the front of the field, but featured contact mid-pack as both McGlynn and Burbridge slid through the grass.
With the cars out of harm’s way and back going, there’d be no yellow flag as Maginnis led ahead of Gemmell, Chenoweth, Sheridan, and Schwartzenburg. The leaders would make contact on Lap 64 with Gemmell sliding a little sideways off of turn two, but he’d gather up and be right back on Maginnis’ bumper within a couple laps for the top spot.
Maginnis would find his way through lap traffic, holding the advantage. Things got close when they came up on Zardo, with Maginnis spinning Zardo down the backstretch. With Zardo spinning into the backstretch infield and out of harm’s way, there’d be no caution flown.
Shane Maginnis would lead the rest of the way en route to winning ahead of Shae Gemmell, Shawn Chenoweth, Billy Schwartzenburg, and Jake Sheridan. J.R. Fitzpatrick finished sixth, followed by Jake Gilbert, Carson Nagy, Chad Corcoran, and Chris Howse.
Mike Klotz finished 11th, followed by Mark Burbridge, Shawn McGlynn, Trevor Monaghan, Lane Zardo, Scott Entwistle, Kevin Albers, Rick Burbridge, Gary Elliott, Tyler Di Venanzo, Mike Westwood, and David Gallinger.
Shae Gemmell would be crowned the 2019 Grisdale Triple Crown Champion, scoring the title by five points over J.R. Fitzpatrick. Billy Schwartzenburg wound up in the third spot ahead of Jake Sheridan and Chad Corcoran, with the No. 89c of Andy Kamrath & Shawn Chenoweth in sixth. Rick Burbridge placed seventh, ahead of Mark Burbridge, Carson Nagy, and Jake Gilbert.
Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds
It seems Andy Kamrath has found his groove behind the wheel of a Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC, Scott Reinhart Sales Ltd OSCAAR Modified, as he scored his third straight victory on Saturday, by winning the Frostoberfest feature presented by Touchwood Cabinets at Flamboro Speedway.
Anthony DiBello won the first heat ahead of Kelly Balson, A.J. Emms, Jason Bowden, Dale Reinhart, Craig Downey, Brad Pearsall, Luke Gignac, Norman Newman, and Ken Hayward.
Andy Kamrath won the second heat ahead of Jason Keen, Gary Elliott, Jase Cornell, Chris Milwain, Brian McLean, Wally Wilson, Geoff Chant, and Bryan Batty.
Andy Kamrath went for the daily double ahead of Emms, Newman, Gignac, Downey, Milwain, Bowden, McLean, and Wilson.
Jason Keen won the fourth heat ahead of Pearsall, Hayward, Reinhart, Balson, DiBello, Elliott, Cornell, Chant, and Batty.
The feature started off with a bang as Geoff Chant would go around on the opening lap for the caution. The second attempt was not much better, with the yellow flag waving once again as Jason Keen spun Norman Newman in turn four.
The third attempt would go cleanly with Anthony DiBello leading, as Andy Kamrath and A.J. Emms battled for second. Kamrath got the spot on Lap 2 ahead of Emms, Dale Reinhart, and Kelly Balson.
Kamrath would take over the top spot on Lap 10, as DiBello and Emms battled for second. Emms got the spot on Lap 11, bringing Reinhart through with him. DiBello now ran fourth ahead of Balson. Milwain’s run came to an end on Lap 19 as he pulled into the infield with an overheating problem. Keen’s feature would end a lap later, as he brought out the race’s third caution following contact with the frontstretch wall.
Kamrath got a good restart ahead of Emms, Reinhart, Balson, and DiBello, as Wilson headed off the track on Lap 26, done for the event. Downey would then pull off the track on Lap 34, off done for the event.
The field would get strung out through the middle portion of the race, but there was still drama to be had as the race’s fourth caution came out on Lap 37 for Newman spinning Cornell off of turn four. The first attempt at a restart would be called back as a result of a jump by Kamrath. Under the caution, Newman pulled into the infield.
Kamrath got a good restart on the second attempt to hold the lead ahead of Emms, Reinhart, DiBello, and Balson. Things would go smoothly until Cornell went for a lazy spin off of turn two for the sixth caution at Lap 42. It was determined he spun as a result of fluid laid down on the track by Elliott, with Elliott receiving the black flag under the caution.
Following a lengthy clean-up, the green flag would be flown, with DiBello and Reinhart coming together on the restart and both taking a lengthy slide through the infield grass for the seventh caution.
Andy Kamrath got a good restart, leading the rest of the way en route to the victory ahead of A.J. Emms, Kelly Balson, Brad Pearsall, and Luke Gignac. Gary Elliott finished sixth, followed by Brian McLean, Ken Hayward, Anthony DiBello, and Dale Reinhart. Jase Cornell finished 11th, followed by Bryan Batty, Geoff Chant, Norman Newman, Craig Downey, Wally Wilson, Jason Keen, Chris Milwain, and Jason Bowden.
Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rods
Taking the top spot just past the halfway mark, Steve Book held off the field en route to winning the Knightworks Design, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR Hot Rod Frostoberfest feature presented by Doug’s Gas Service.
Steve Book won the first heat ahead of Billy Alderson Jr., Dalen Martin, Adrian Foster, Bob Parsons, Sean Walker, Brandon Robertson, Dan Rothwell, and Dustin Kellar.
Tyler Hawn won the second heat ahead of Bill Clarke, Jerry Broom, Bobby Mercer, Nick Clarke, Jeremy McLean, Ryan Cowan, and Pat MacDonald.
Dalen Martin won the third heat ahead of Hawn, Book, Foster, Bill Clarke, Alderson Jr., Mercer, and Robertson, with Cowan pulling off due to mechanical issues.
There was a quick caution at Lap 9 in the fourth heat for Kellar going around, which Walker pulled off under the yellow flag. Jerry Broom picked up the win ahead of Parsons, Nick Clarke, McLean, Rothwell, MacDonald, Kellar, and Walker.
Come feature time, Jerry Broom started pole ahead of Billy Alderson Jr., Dalen Martin, Nick Clarke, Tyler Hawn, Steve Book, Bob Parsons, Bill Clarke, Adrian Foster, Jeremy McLean, Bobby Mercer, Sean Walker, Brandon Robertson, Dustin Kellar, Ryan Cowan, and Sean Walker.
Jerry Broom snagged the early lead ahead of Martin, Alderson Jr., Hawn, and Book, with Cowan heading off the track on Lap 3, done for the event. Book would then get by Hawn for fourth on Lap 5, followed by passing Alderson Jr. for third on Lap 9. The caution then came out at Lap 12 for MacDonald slowing on the frontstretch and Kellar going around in turn four.
The restart would see Martin get slideways, allowing Alderson Jr. to grab the lead with Martin back to second ahead of Broom. Book would then pass Broom for third on Lap 13, while Hawn rounded out the top-five. Book got alongside Martin for second on Lap 14, completing the pass challenge, and bringing Broom through with him.
Hawn would be the next to challenge Martin for position, with Martin coming down on him a little in turn one, causing both drivers to go around.
The restart would see a battle for the lead between Alderson Jr. and Book, with Book taking over the top spot on Lap 20 ahead of Alderson Jr., as Foster and Broom battled for third. Broom took the spot a lap later ahead of Foster, as Nick Clarke ran fifth.
Steve Book picked up the win ahead of Billy Alderson Jr., Jerry Broom, Adrian Foster, and Nick Clarke. Bill Clarke finished sixth, followed by Bob Parsons, Tyler Hawn, Bobby Mercer, and Dan Rothwell. Dalen Martin finished 11th, followed by Sean Walker, Jeremy McLean, Brandon Robertson, Pat MacDonald, Dustin Kellar, and Ryan Cowan.
Living Lighting OSCAAR Pro Sprints
Cruising his way to the front of the field, Daniel Hawn put on a dominating hat trick performance en route to winning the Living Lighting, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR Pro Sprint Frostoberfest feature presented by Team All Tech.
Daniel Hawn won the first heat ahead of Rob McCall, Katherine Summers, Rob Summers, Gary Triska, Shawn Stanley and Kevin Taylor.
James Stanley won the second heat ahead of Jaden Riddell, Ryan Battilana, Owen Elliott, Jay Haskell, Ken McKenzie, and Tyler Cullen. Cullen, unfortunately, failed to finish due to mechanical reasons.
Daniel Hawn went for the daily double ahead of Taylor, Katherine Summers, Rob Summers, Triska, McCall, and Brad Holmes.
Jaden Riddell scored the victory in the fourth heat ahead of Stanley, Battilana, Elliott, Cullen, Haskell, and McKenzie.
Come feature time, Katherine Summers started pole ahead of Ken McKenzie, Gary Triska, Tyler Cullen, Kevin Taylor, Ryan Battilana, Rob Summers, James Stanley, Daniel Hawn, Owen Elliott, Jaden Riddell, and Brad Holmes.
Katherine Summers grabbed the initial advantage ahead of Taylor and Hawn, but the caution came out on Lap 2 for Elliott going around in turns three and four. Under caution, Taylor’s car would die, ending his feature early.
Hawn would get a good restart to grab the lead, as Katherine Summers battled Battilana for second ahead of Stanley, Riddell, and Triska. Battilana took the spot on Lap 4, bringing Stanley through with him as Riddell battled Summers for fourth. Riddell then took over the spot on Lap 5, with Summers and Triska rounding out the top-six.
Stanley would continue moving forward, getting alongside Battilana for second and completing the pass a lap later. Meanwhile, McKenzie’s feature would end early as a result of mechanical issues.
Riddell continued to run fourth ahead of Summers, with Triska and Cullen side-by-side for sixth. Cullen got the spot on Lap 9, passing Summers a lap later for fifth. Riddell would then get alongside Battilana for third on Lap 11, completing the pass a lap later.
The race appeared to have a green flag look to it with the field spread out, but there’d be a caution before the event’s conclusion with Haskell’s car dying off of turn four. Under the caution, Katherine Summers got the lucky dog to get back on the lead lap.
Hawn got a good restart to keep the lead ahead of Stanley, with Riddell and Battilana battling for third. Riddell got the spot on Lap 16 ahead of Battilana, as Triska ran fifth. The battle for sixth got interesting on Lap 21, with Elliott and Cullen coming together, both cars going around for the yellow flag.
Daniel Hawn got a good restart to get the victory ahead of James Stanley, Jaden Riddell, Ryan Battilana, and Katherine Summers. Gary Triska finished sixth, followed by Tyler Cullen, Jay Haskell, Rob Summers, and Brad Holmes. Kevin Taylor finished 11th, followed by Ken McKenzie, with Owen Elliott scored 13th with a disqualification for unsportsmanlike conduct. Rob McCall failed to start the feature due to mechanical issues.

There still remains one night left on the schedule, as the Halloween Enduro 250 will take place on Saturday, October 19, with $5000 up for grabs for the winner. Pit gate open at 10am, followed by the grandstands opening at 2pm. Racing will get underway at 3pm.
