SAUBLE BEACH, Ontario — When race fans elect where they choose to go, they look for places where you never know who will come out with the checkered flag.
Sauble Speedway has been a perfect definition of that through the years for the Overkill Enterprise OSCAAR Modifieds, with 11 different drivers finding Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd victory lane in the previous 15 events.
Who will be the next driver to capture the checkered flag? Here are some of the drivers to watch this weekend.
Rick Burbridge may be a modified rookie, but he adapted very well to Sauble back in June as evident by picking up a third-place finish. The past Late Model stand-out has transitioned well to his open-wheel ride, as evident by scoring no results off the podium with a career-best second at Peterborough Speedway.
Matt Haufe has also proven to be fast as a rookie, as he made his first career stop to Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd feature victory lane at Peterborough Speedway. He placed sixth at the beach in June.
Third generation racer Eric McLean has been learning each week behind the wheel, and hopes to continue getting better each week. Fun fact – he has placed eighth in each of the three races run this season thus far.
Daryl Henwood has been one of the pleasant surprises this season, including a heat victory at Peterborough Speedway. He has been solid in the features, as well, placing ninth at Sauble back in June followed by an 11th and a sixth.
Amanda Balson knows what it takes to be successful with OSCAAR, as evident by her previous success with The Fyre Place & Patio Shop OSCAAR Hot Rods presented by Bromley Automotive. She has also shown speed with the modifieds, as evident by reaching victory lane last year at Sunset Speedway. After not seeing her first trip to Sauble go as planned with a hung throttle, she is hoping for some redemption in her trip back to the beach.
Jason Keen knows his way around Sauble as he dominated last year’s event at the beach. Unfortunately, he did not get to show that similar speed in June with motor issues ending his night in practice. He has since followed it up with a fourth at Delaware and sixth at Peterborough.
Bryan Batty hopes to find the same success which led him to 20 top-10 finishes in 33 previous appearances. He has run well at Sauble, as evident by a fifth-place finish in 2023 and a runner-up in June.
2025 series champion Steve Trendell was fast in June at Sauble, as evident with a fourth-place finish. He will hope to find his way to feature victory lane for the second time in his first career, and enters with momentum as he has scored a top-five in each event this season.
Brent McLean is no stranger to OSCAAR victory lane, as evident by having won five times throughout his career. In total, he has scored 45 top-10’s in 58 series appearances, including a pair this season.
Dale Reinhart enters the weekend with momentum on his side after picking up the feature victory at Sauble Speedway back in June. He then backed it up with a second checkered flag on the season at Delaware Speedway to currently be tied for the points lead.
Wally Wilson will not be in attendance this weekend, but hopes to keep himself in the championship fight with a guest driver behind the wheel of the No. 69.
Don’t miss the action at Sauble Speedway this weekend as it will include the OSCAAR Hot Rods, OSCAAR Super Late Models, and the OSCAAR Modifieds.
