SAUBLE BEACH, Ontario — Surfs up! The Fyre Place & Patio Shop OSCAAR Hot Rods presented by Bromley Automotive are set for their 11th appearance at Sauble Speedway on Saturday, September 19 for their fifth event of 2026.
There are several drivers to watch in the field this weekend that will be contending for the win once the The Car Guy green flag waves.
Thomas Wunsch has been the driver to watch to start off 2026, as evident by a third at Sauble Speedway before picking up his first career series victory at Delaware Speedway. He then rebounded this past weekend at Brighton for a top-10 despite issues in practice and a spin during the feature. Some of his recent results at Sauble include a fifth and a third.
Tyler Hawn enters the weekend looking to get back to victory lane after an incident took him out of contention at Brighton. The defending series champion has been fast, as evident by picking up the checkered flag at Peterborough Speedway. He is one of two drivers to have found victory lane at Sauble Speedway more than once, having done so on three occasions including last August.
Steve Book has shown speed at Sauble in the past, as evident by a pair of fourths and a seventh in his last three beach appearances. He has also started off this year on a good note with four top-seven finishes.
Jacob Booth became the series’ most recent first-time winner by making a visit to Knightworks Design victory lane at Brighton Speedway. It marked his fourth straight top-10 to currently lead the Rookie of the Year standings. He placed sixth at Sauble back in June.
Daniel Hawn is keeping Booth honest in the ROTY battle as evident by four top-10’s of his own including a fifth-place finish at Peterborough Speedway. He placed ninth at Sauble in June.
Ryan Cowan has shown speed in the past with the tour, as evident by posting 21 top-10 finishes in 55 career starts, including a top-five at Brighton. Unfortunately, his trip to Sauble in June did not go as he hoped with mechanical issues sending him pit side early.
Ayden McNicol made the jump into the Hot Rods following a successful season of Bone Stock competition at Full Throttle Motor Speedway, and has showed promise this season with solid runs in each of his outings. He scored a career-best third at Brighton Speedway after kicking off the campaign with a 12th at Sauble Speedway.
Drew Richardson has been solid thus far in 2026, as evident by a pair of top-10’s in his pair of appearances, including a season-best eighth at Sauble Speedway.
Trevor Thompson is one of those, as he has run strong at Sauble previously with no finishes outside of the top-10 in his last four appearances highlighted by a fourth. The driver of the No. 00 Camaro has been consistent with 27 top-10’s in 32 career starts, and scored a season-best sixth at Peterborough Speedway.
The battle of the Wilsons will be one of the talking points, as Brian Wilson and Brian Wilson Jr. will be battling against each other rather than sharing a racecar this season. They proved to both be fast last year, running inside the top-10 on a weekly basis.
