Shawn Chenoweth Dominates Grisdale Showdown Series Feature at Flamboro

MILLGROVE, Ontario — One of the Flamboro Speedway veterans found his way back to victory lane, and in dominating fashion.

Shawn Chenoweth dominated the latest round of the Grisdale Showdown Series for the Pro Late Models at Flamboro Speedway on Saturday, August 29th for his first checkered flag of the season. Shae Gemmell and Jake Sheridan were right there as they have been all season, completing the podium as Billy Schwartzenburg and Blair Wickett rounded out the top-five. Tyler Di Venanzo was sixth in front of Billy Zardo, Kevin Albers, Kevin Gallant, and Josh Gruntz.

TJ Marshall took the lead with seven laps to go to win the first feature for the Grindstone Landscaping Canadian Vintage Modifieds ahead of Jordan Ramsbottom, Alexandria Ditner, Chris Pendlebury, Steve Murdoch, Dave Evison Sr., Dustin Hood, and Ty Riopelle.

Ty Riopelle rebounded in a big way in the second feature, picking up the checkered flag in front of TJ Marshall, Jordan Ramsbottom, Chris Pendlebury, Alexandria Ditner, Dave Evison Sr., Dustin Hood, and Steve Murdoch.

The Canadian Vintage Modifeds also hosted their annual Dash 4 The Flag with Alexandria Ditner picking up the win ahead of Chris Pendlebury, Dave Evison Sr., and Dustin Hood.

Mike Thomson found his way into the top spot with five laps to go to win the first Klotz Auto Repair Mini Stock feature ahead of Bobby Mercer, Blaise Shaw, Shawn Taylor and Madisson Tienkamp. Andrew Smith was sixth in front of Louis Mehlenbacher, Matt Young, Nikki Richmond, and Tyler Lewis.

Matt Young snagged the lead at the halfway mark to win the second feature ahead of Blaise Shaw, Mike Thomson, Shawn Taylor, and Bobby Mercer. Andrew Smith was sixth once again, this time in front of Madisson Tienkamp, Tyler Lewis, and Nikki Richmond.

With it being the Bob McClurkin Memorial for the Hogan Law & McClurkin Properties of Cambridge Pure Stocks, they would use a pair of 10-lap qualifying heats to set the starting line-up for the 30 lap feature. Chase Mitchell won the first qualifier ahead of Leo Labarbera, Hailey Hill, Gary Slama, and Rodney Rutherford. James Houghton won the second heat in front of Megan Mitchell, Brandyn Milligan, Cam Thomson, and Matt Young.

James Houghton wasted no time in the feature, grabbing the advantage off the front row and pacing all 30 laps to win the Bob McClurkin Memorial ahead of Chase Mitchell, Gary Slama, Brandyn Milligan, and Leo Labarbera. Matt Young battled his way forward for sixth in front of Rodney Rutherford, Jake Watson, Megan Mitchell, and Rick Mitchell. Spencer Riddell made a couple moves up to 11th, followed by Rachel Mitchell, Hailey Hill, Chance Rogers, John Cote, Mark Allan, William Young, Randy Rodgers, Cam Thomson, and Riley Deline.

The next event at Flamboro Speedway in scheduled for Saturday, September 5th, featuring the Ontario Sportsman Series, plus The FlowerPot 51’s for Mini Stocks & Pure Stocks (25 & 26 lap feature races) and spectator drag races.
