INNISFIL, Ontario — Battling up front throughout the night, SKLD Motorsports overcame adversity en route to a pair of top-10 finishes on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
Andrew Shilling did not start off his night as well as he hoped, with contact resulting in catching a bit of air in the first heat. He would fail to finish, but the team went to work immediately in getting him ready for the next round of qualifying. Their efforts would be rewarded, as evident by a victory in the second heat.
He would carry the momentum into the feature, working his way forward from deep in the field to cross the finish line with a runner-up finish.
After struggling through the first couple weeks of the season, Karlie Wilman was able to put together a solid night, placing inside the top-five in both of her qualifying heats. She looked to do the same in the feature, crossing the finish line with a 10th-place finish.
Austyn Jennett was fast at the beginning of the night, scoring a runner-up finish in his first heat. Unfortunately, things did not stay as smoothly, with mechanical gremlins affecting his performance through the rest of the night. He would fail to finish the feature, ultimately crossing the finish line in 14th.
SKLD Motorsports is proud to be supported by Wilman Haulage, Hamilton Contracting, Able Taxi, The Canoe, SMG Motorsports, Brent Harrison, and Short Track Musings.
