SAUBLE BEACH, Ontario — A week after watching his son Jake score a victory at Sunset Speedway, it was time for Rick Spencer-Walt to make his return to victory lane.

Battling against the stars of the APC Auto Parts United Late Model Series at Sauble Speedway, he would pick up his second win of the 2022 campaign with the tour.

The speed was there in the No. 31W Late Model from the beginning of the night, as evident by posting a lap of 14.224 seconds to put him second on the qualifying chart, just 0.028 seconds off the pole.

Starting inside the top-five, Spencer-Walt was patient through the first quarter of the event, quietly running fourth. As the race crept towards the halfway mark, he began to make his move, taking over third on Lap 41. He would track down the leaders, making his move, taking over the top spot on Lap 72.

With 28 laps left in the event, he would be challenged by the series’ current points leader, and 2020 champion at the front of the field. He held his own, though, managing the gap and maintaining the advantage to the checkered flag for the win.

The result moves him up to third in the points with five top-five’s and six top-10’s this year, 25 points out of the lead with a single race remaining. The ninth race of the APC Series schedule is set to take place at Delaware Speedway on Saturday, September 24.

Spencer-Walt will be back in action before then, set to take on Delaware this Friday night as part of the track’s 70^th Anniversary Shootout. The 70-lap feature will be shown live on Rogers TV London.
