PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — Running up front and leading laps in the feature, Luke Gignac scored a top-five finish on Saturday night at Peterborough Speedway.
Gignac started off by showing speed in qualifying, placing third in both of his heats. It’d set him up well for the feature, as he would start the 40-lapper from the top spot.
He broke out to the early advantage off the green flag, building an advantage over the field. The eventual race winner caught back up to him, challenging him on Lap 11 when the caution flew for an incident on the backstretch.
The restart would see Gignac drop back to second, ultimately fading back to fourth by Lap 16. He would continue to battle hard throughout the remaining half of the event, despite being challenged for position, ultimately crossing the finish line in fourth.
The next race for the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds presented by Just Foam It is at Sauble Speedway on Saturday, August 20.
