INNISFIL, Ontario — Returning back to Sunset Speedway following a crash last month, Luke Gignac was fast en route to scoring the heat victory on Saturday night.
Gignac started off the evening by placing third in his first heat, and then led throughout the second qualifier en route to the checkered flag.
Starting eighth for the 40-lap feature, he would drop back a little off the initial green flag, but moved back up into eighth in the opening 10 laps. He would continue moving up to run seventh at the halfway mark as the field began to spread out around the track.
With a lack of cautions not giving him a chance to make up lost ground, he’d cross the finish line in seventh.
The next race for the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds presented by Just Foam It is at Peterborough Speedway on Saturday, July 30.
