INNISFIL, Ontario — The solid top-five finishes on a weekly basis are paying off for Jake Spencer-Walt, as he currently sits tied atop the points standings in the Jr. Late Model division at Sunset Speedway.
Spencer-Walt was fast from the drop of the green flag on Saturday evening, making a move for the lead on the first lap of the heat on the high side, though hit a snag with a spin in turns one and two. He rebounded solidly, though, coming back for a third.
The second qualifier saw the success continue with second-place finish.
Starting second for the feature, another competitor with make contact with Spencer-Walt, followed by hitting the backstretch wall. As a result, Spencer-Walt was put to the rear of the field as an involved car. Restarting from the tail of the field, he would make his way back up to fifth by Lap 3, only to go for a spin of his own. Another trip to the tail of the field, he would work his way back up to second by Lap 5, however suffered another spin six laps later.
Restarting at the tail of the field, he worked his way forward once again, crossing the finish line with a second-place finish.
It marks his fourth top-five of 2022.
