Rick Spencer-Walt Just Misses Top-10 Following Adversity at Flamboro Speedway

MILLGROVE, Ontario — Despite being involved in a pair of cautions, Rick Spencer-Walt battled back to place just outside of the top-10 in the APC United Late Model Series London Recreational Racing 100 at Flamboro Speedway.

After winning the series season opener at Sunset Speedway a couple weeks ago, Spencer-Walt showed speed in time trials by posting a lap of 15.055 seconds to put him eighth on the board.

The invert would see him take the green from the 10th position, with him working his way up to seventh in the early laps. He continued to move forward, making a move for sixth with 35 laps on the board. Spencer-Walt tried to continue the progress forward, though instead was challenged from behind just past the halfway mark. Unfortunately, there was contact, resulting in the No. 31w Late Model going around for a spin in turns one and two with 68 laps on the board.

Restarting tail of the field with 32 laps to go, he would work his way back up to 11th before the race’s next caution at Lap 88. Now on the sixth row, he would try to break his way into the top-10, though found himself facing the wrong way on the frontstretch at Lap 92 following contact with another competitor.

Back to the tail of the field once again, Spencer-Walt would battle his way forward in the final eight laps to cross the finish line in 12th for the second event of the APC Series season.

It marks his first finish outside of the top-five this season following a third and a victory at Sunset Speedway, and a fifth last weekend at Delaware Speedway.

The third race of the APC Series schedule is set to take place at Peterborough Speedway on Saturday, June 18.
