SAUBLE BEACH, Ontario — In the final 10 laps, Brandon Watson took over the top spot from Matt Pritiko, pacing the field the rest of the way en route to victory.
Josh Stade started pole ahead of Ryan Kimball, Jordan Sims, Dale Shaw, Andrew Gresel, Jake Sheridan, Treyten Lapcevich, Tim Ellis, Jr Farrelly, Nick Goetz, J.R. Fitzpatrick, Mat Box, Jo Lawrence, Brandon Watson, Matt Pritiko, Pete Shepherd, Tyler Di Venanzo, Tom Gibbons, Shae Gemmell, Danny Benedict, Dustin Jackson, Connor James, James Horner, Shawn McGlynn, Zac Sprung, and Shawn Chenoweth.
The start of the race saw a battle for the lead between Stade and Kimball, with Kimball taking the top spot. Sims would also get by Stade, getting alongside Kimball for the lead on Lap 3. Kimball moved into the top spot a lap later ahead of Sims, with Sheridan and Stade side-by-side for third ahead of Gresel, as Lapcevich and Shaw battled for sixth.
Sheridan took over the third spot on Lap 6, as Stade and Gresel now battled for fourth, with Lapcevich and Shaw still side-by-side ahead of Ellis, Fitzpatrick, Farrelly, Shepherd, and Watson. Sheridan would move into second on Lap 10, bringing Stade and Gresel through with him.
Sims now ran fifth ahead of Lapcevich and Shaw, as Fitzpatrick and Ellis are side-by-side for ninth. Fitzpatrick would take the spot, with Shepherd looking to follow him through. However, the caution would come out on Lap 14 for Gibbons going around in turn one.
Sheridan would get a good restart to take over the top spot ahead of Kimball, as Stade and Gresel ran side-by-side for third, with Sims and Lapcevich battling for fifth. Stade would get into third on Lap 17, with Sims and Gresel making contact for fourth. Gresel would take over the spot a lap later, just as the caution came out for Box going around in turn two.
The restart would produce the third caution, with Lapcevich going for a slide through the frontstretch grass following contact.
The second attempt would go clean, with Kimball taking back the lead ahead of Sheridan, Gresel, Fitzpatrick and Stade, with Sims and Shepherd side-by-side for sixth. Sims took the spot on Lap 24, with Shaw looking to follow him through. Shaw would move into seventh on Lap 28, with Pritiko alongside Shepherd ahead of Watson and Lawrence, as Ellis and Farrelly battled for 13th.
With 31 laps on the board, Kimball led Sheridan, Gresel, Fitzpatrick, Stade, Sims, Shaw, Pritiko, Watson, Shepherd, Lawrence, and Farrelly. Stade would move into fourth on Lap 35, with Fitzpatrick and Sims side-by-side for fifth. Sims would take over the spot three laps later ahead of Shaw, Pritiko, Watson, Fitzpatrick, Shepherd, Lawrence, Farrelly, Benedict, Gemmell, and Lapcevich. Lapcevich continued to move forward, getting by Gemmell for 14th on Lap 32.
Shepherd would get alongside Fitzpatrick for ninth on Lap 43, making the pass a lap later, with Lawrence and Farrelly following him through. Farrelly’s night, though, would go downhill as he’d go around in turn four on Lap 46 for the fourth caution. With 54 laps to go, Kimball led Sheridan, Gresel, Stade, Sims, Shaw, Pritiko, Watson, Shepherd, Lawrence, Fitzpatrick, and Benedict.
Sheridan took back the lead on Lap 47 ahead of Kimball, Gresel and Stade, with Sims and Shaw side-by-side for fifth ahead of Pritiko. However, the yellow flag was back out quickly on Lap 49, for Gresel’s hood being up over the windshield.
Sheridan got a good restart ahead of Kimball, with Stade and Gresel side-by-side for third ahead of Sims and Lawrence. Stade took over the third spot on Lap 52, with Sims getting alongside Shaw to try and follow him through. Lawrence continued to run sixth, as Shepherd and Pritiko ran side-by-side for seventh. Their battle was cut short, though, as the sixth caution came out on Lap 53 for Goetz’s wheel flying off, collecting Di Venanzo with her.
The first attempt at a restart would result in Sprung going around in turn one and two. The second attempt would see Shepherd get into Sims, collecting Kimball with him as Sims and Kimball went through the infield grass. The third attempt would see Shaw send Stade for a spin through the infield grass. Still with 54 laps on the board, Sheridan led Lawrence, Shepherd, Pritiko, Watson, Gemmell, Lapcevich, Ellis, Jackson, Fitzpatrick, Box, and Benedict.
The fourth attempt saw the chaos continue, with Jackson going around in turn three. Lawrence would get the lead on the restart with Pritiko and Sheridan side-by-side for second. Pritiko got the spot, and meanwhile, Gemmell drove over Sheridan’s door for the 11th caution at Lap 56.
Pritiko would get the lead on the restart as Watson got alongside Lawrence for second. Watson took over second on Lap 58, with Lapcevich and Benedict following him through three laps later. Lawrence now ran fifth ahead of Ellis and Farrelly, with Fitzpatrick and Shepherd side-by-side for ninth.
Fitzpatrick moved into ninth on Lap 62, bringing Box through with him as Shepherd ran 11th ahead of Gresel, Stade, Gibbons, and Shaw, as Kimball and Sims ran side-by-side for 16th. Gresel would get alongside Shepherd on Lap 64, taking over the spot a lap later, bringing Stade through with him. Shepherd now ran 13th, as Gibbons and Shaw battled for 14th ahead of Kimball and Sims.
At the front of the field, the battle for the top spot became the focus with Watson having tracked down Pritiko for the lead. He would make his move with seven laps to go, taking over the lead a lap later. Lapcevich ran third ahead of Benedict and Lawrence, with Farrelly and Ellis side-by-side for sixth ahead of Fitzpatrick and Box.
Brandon Watson scored the feature victory ahead of Matt Pritiko, Treyten Lapcevich, Danny Benedict, and Jo Lawrence. Connor James finished sixth, followed by Tim Ellis, J.R. Fitzpatrick, Mat Box, and Andrew Gresel. Josh Stade placed 11th, followed by Pete Shepherd, Dale Shaw, Ryan Kimball, Tom Gibbons, Jordan Sims, Shae Gemmell, Tyler Di Venanzo, James Horner, and Nick Goetz.
Jake Sheridan finished 21st, followed by Dustin Jackson, Jr Farrelly, Zach Sprung, and Pete Shepherd.
