Steve Book Feeling “Awesome” After Second Consecutive Jukasa Victory

You could say that Steve Book has this Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rods figured out, after parking the No. 47 Studebaker in victory lane at Jukasa Motor Speedway for the second straight event.

“I think it’s awesome,” Book told SHORT TRACK MUSINGS. “The car was the best it’s ever been, and we have a great field of cars. Everybody is pulling out some real nice equipment.”

While the competition is stepping up their game, Book proved he is not slowing down at all last Saturday. He started off by leading the way in qualifying with a lap of 20.782 seconds for quick time, only to draw eighth for the invert. Though despite starting on the fourth row, he made his way forward quickly. up to second by Lap 5, before utilizing a restart 10 laps into the event to pass Jay Doerr for the lead. From there on, there was no catching Book as he cruised to victory lane.

The momentum is something he hopes to carry to Sauble Speedway next weekend, August 22, when the Hot Rods make their first appearance at the beach since 2018. While Book finished third then, it was behind the wheel of the team’s previous car, the Camaro.

“It’ll be interesting to see how this car works,” he commented.
