Each season, there seems to be a Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modified that steps up above the rest and shines through. T.J. Edwards certainly is getting the early nod after a stellar performance at Jukasa Motor Speedway.
“It means the world,” he told SHORT TRACK MUSINGS afterwards. “We were just coming out here to get laps under our belt so to be competitive like we were means a lot to us. We’ll look over our notes and come back here in a month.”
Edwards was fast right off the trailer, scoring the second quickest lap in time trials, only to start fourth on the invert. He wasted no time moving his way to the front, putting himself in the runner-up spot in the early stages. While he was unable to get by eventual race winner Andy Kamrath, he kept the gap between the pair to a decent amount through the 40-lap feature.
When asked what he felt they needed to do better when the series returns to Jukasa on September 26, he stated, “Probably tighten the car up so it doesn’t get so loose on a long run. But other than that, it was pretty decent.”
Though before then, the driver of the No. 34 Modified will be heading to Flamboro Speedway on September 12.
“I can’t wait,” he commented. “It doesn’t matter where we’re racing, I just want to get back in this racecar and race again.”
