PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — Despite some contact during the early stages of the feature, Luke Gignac came back to score a top-10 finish on Sunday at Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic.
Gignac started off the weekend by finishing third in his first heat, followed by a fourth in the second qualifier.
Starting seventh for the 50-lap feature, he would get sideways on the third Lap, though remained ninth through the process. The first caution would then come out on Lap 20, allowing Gignac to come down pit road and address the issues that he was facing.
Restarting from the tail of the field, he would make his way up to 14th by Lap 30, avoiding in an incident amongst the top-five to move up two spots to 12th. Restarting on the sixth row at Lap 32, he would move up to the eighth spot by Lap 40, though faded back to 12th once again over the next five laps. He kept through the final five laps of the feature, ultimately crossing the finish line in 10th.
For his efforts all season long, Luke Gignac placed fourth in the year-end points standings.
