Stanley and Hawn Split OSCAAR Pro Sprint Velocity 250 Features at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario —Running a pair of features on Sunset Speedway’s Velocity 250 weekend, James Stanley and Daniel Hawn would each make a trip to victory lane in the Living Lighting, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR Pro Sprint action presented by PCI Imageware Corporation.

Brody Rickwood started on pole for the first feature ahead of Brad Holmes, Tyler Cullen, Kevin Taylor, Ryan Battilana, Rob Summers, Rob McCall, Daniel Hawn, James Stanley, Katherine Summers, Gary Triska, and Ken McKenzie.

The opening lap would see Rickwood and Taylor battle for the lead ahead of Rob Summers, with Rickwood grabbing the lead on Lap 2 ahead of Taylor, Hawn, Battilana, Summers, and Stanley. McCall would run seventh ahead of Cullen and Katherine Summers.

The shuffling would continue, with Hawn moving up into second on Lap 5 ahead of Taylor, Battilana, Stanley, Rob Summers, and McCall. Stanley kept climbing forward, passing Battilana for fourth on Lap 7.

The climb to the front would be complete for Hawn by Lap 8, as he took the lead ahead of Rickwood, Taylor, Stanley, Battilana, McCall, and Rob Summers. Stanley continued moving forward, passing Taylor for third on Lap 10.

The second half of the feature would see the leaders knee-deep in lap traffic, dodging cars left and right. Stanley was able to master the art of getting around the traffic, using it to his advantage to track down Hawn for the lead. He would then make his move on the last lap, passing him to take the lead.

James Stanley scored the victory ahead of Daniel Hawn, Brody Rickwood, Kevin Taylor, and Ryan Battilana. Rob McCall finished sixth, followed by Rob Summers, Tyler Cullen, Katherine Summers, and Gary Triska. Ken McKenzie finished 11th, followed by Brad Holmes and Russ Couture.

The second feature saw Brody Rickwood start on pole ahead of Tyler Cullen, Kevin Taylor, Ryan Battilana, Rob Summers, James Stanley, Daniel Hawn, Rob McCall, Katherine Summers, Ken McKenzie, Gary Triska, Brad Holmes, and Russ Couture.

Rickwood would grab the early lead, with Battilana and Taylor side-by-side for second. Taylor got the spot, with Stanley right alongside him on Lap 2. Stanley moved into second on Lap 3 ahead of Taylor, with Battilana and Hawn side-by-side for fourth.

Stanley would get alongside Rickwood for the lead on Lap 4, taking the top spot a lap later, as Hawn battled Taylor for third. Hawn took the spot on Lap 6, with Battilana looking to follow him through.

The battles would continue through the feature, with Hawn making his way by Rickwood at the halfway mark of the feature for second, as Battilana cleared Taylor for fourth. Behind them, Rob Summers ran sixth ahead of Cullen, Katherine Summers, Triska, Holmes, and McCall. McCall was able to get by Holmes to break into the top-10, but then slowed with a mechanical problem. McCall then rolled to a stop in turn two, bringing out the caution.

The first attempt at a restart brought forth chaos in turns one and two, with Rickwood going around, followed by Cullen, Holmes, and Triska. Unfortunately, that meant the end of Rickwood’s feature as he pulled off the track.

Daniel Hawn would get a good restart, making the move for the lead. He then led the rest of the way en route to the victory ahead of Ryan Battilana, James Stanley, Kevin Taylor, and Rob Summers. Tyler Cullen finished sixth, followed by Katherine Summers, Russ Couture, Brad Holmes, Ken McKenzie, Brody Rickwood, Gary Triska, and Rob McCall.
