Eric Yorke Holds off Seaboyer for Sunset Speedway Victory

It’d be a close battle throughout the 25-lap feature, but Eric Yorke would hold off Tyler Seaboyer to score the win in the G.D. Coates Used Car Superstore Mini Stock feature.

Melissa Bullen won the first heat ahead of Connor Maltese, Josh Bullen, Tyler Seaboyer, Curtis Stewart, Peter Wakeling, and Eric Rainey.

Eric Yorke won the second heat ahead of Ryan DiBello, Samantha Shaw, Pat MacDonald, Bob Phinnemore, Jason D’Antimo, and Morgan Robson Jr.

Tyler Seaboyer won the third heat ahead of Melissa Bullen, Josh Bullen, Maltese, Stewart, and Wakeling.

Eric Yorke went for the daily double ahead of DiBello, Shaw, MacDonald, Phinnemore, D’Antimo, and Robson.

Come feature time, Peter Wakeling started pole ahead of Connor Maltese, Jason D’Antimo, Phinnemore, Stewart, Melissa Bullen, Tyler Seaboyer, Pat MacDonald, Eric Yorke, Samantha Shaw, Ryan DiBello, Josh Bullen, Morgan Robson Jr., and Eric Rainey.

The drop of the green flag saw a battle for the lead between Wakeling and Maltese, with Maltese grabbing the early advantage. It wouldn’t last long, as Melissa Bullen got alongside Maltese for the lead on Lap 2, with Seaboyer alongside Wakeling for third.

Bullen took the lead on Lap 3, with Seaboyer up to second a lap later ahead of Yorke, as Shaw battled Maltese. Shaw would move into fourth on Lap 5 ahead of Maltese and DiBello. Seaboyer continued his climb forward, passing Bullen for the lead on Lap 6. Yorke and Shaw both moved up to second and third, bumping Bullen back to fourth by the eighth lap.

Behind Bullen, DiBello and Maltese battled for fifth, with DiBello getting the spot on Lap 9, bringing MacDonald through with him. Maltese now ran seventh ahead of Phinnemore, with Stewart and D’Antimo side-by-side for ninth ahead of Josh Bullen. Stewart moved into ninth on Lap 12, with Bullen by D’Antimo a lap later for 10th. Behind them, Wakeling ran 12th ahead of Rainey and Robson.

The race appeared to have a green flag look to it, but that wouldn’t last, as D’Antimo went around in turn four for the caution on Lap 16. With 10 laps to go, Seaboyer led Yorke, Shaw, Melissa Bullen, DiBello, MacDonald, Maltese, Phinnemore, Stewart, Josh Bullen, and Wakeling.

The restart saw a battle for the lead between Seaboyer and Yorke, but also produced the second caution with Melissa Bullen going around in turn two on Lap 18.

Yorke got a good restart to take the lead, with Seaboyer in close pursuit as Shaw battled DiBello for third. Shaw got the spot on Lap 19, with DiBello in fourth ahead of MacDonald and Phinnemore, as Josh Bullen and Maltese ran side-by-side for seventh. Behind them, Stewart and Melissa Bullen battled for ninth, with Stewart holding her off to keep the spot.

At the front of the field, Seaboyer got back alongside Yorke for the lead with three laps to go, with the pair remaining side-by-side through the next lap. Seaboyer would get loose through turns one and two on the last lap, allowing Yorke to get the run off the corner.

Eric Yorke led the rest of the way en route to victory ahead of Tyler Seaboyer, Samantha Shaw, Ryan DiBello, and Pat MacDonald. Bob Phinnemore finished sixth, followed by Connor Maltese, Melissa Bullen, Curtis Stewart, and Josh Bullen. Jason D’Antimo finished 11th, followed by Peter Wakeling, Eric Rainey, and Morgan Robson Jr.
