Dwayne Baker Paces Second Half of Feature En Route to Victory

INNISFIL, Ontario — Taking the lead just past the halfway mark, Dwayne Baker held off the field of hungry drivers en route to winning the second Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park Late Model feature on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.

Off the drop of the green flag, Danny Benedict grabbed the early advantage ahead of Ron Quesnelle and Gord Shepherd. Behind them, it was a close battle through the field for positions, with contact happening on Lap 11 as Kendra Adams, Jeff Richard, and Chris McIssac each went around.

The restart, combined with the early ground made up, was all Baker needed as he would make his way to the lead just past the halfway mark. Despite three restarts in the final 13 laps, Baker did everything that he needed to do to snag the win.

The victory for Dwayne Baker marks his fourth of the season, and 10th top-five finish. Gord Shepherd got by Danny Benedict in the late stages for second, and his 10th top-five finish. Benedict’s third-place finish marks his ninth top-five of 2019. Rick Spencer-Walt drove his way up to fourth after winning the first feature for his 15th top-five, with Travis Hallyburton rounding out the top-five.

Mike Wilkinson finished sixth for his eighth top-10, followed by Ron Quesnelle, Robbie Sikes, Al Inglis, and Chris McIssac. Daniel Montanari placed 11th, followed by Stefan Semeraro, Paul Maltese, and Jeff Richard. Kendra Adams rounded out the field after running into some issues in the late stages.
