Robbie Sikes Returns to Top-10 at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario — Despite a rough start to his night at Sunset Speedway, Robbie Sikes battled to a top-10 finish on Saturday.

Qualifying 13th for the first of two 35-lap features, Sikes was unfortunately one of the several cars caught up in the Lap 2 crash when a fellow competitor got loose off of turn four and blocked the track. Fortunately, the Spencer-Walt Motorsports team was able to make the necessary repairs, allowing Sikes to get back on-track.

Restarting at the tail of the field, he would make his way up to 11th by the halfway mark, though fell back to 12th on Lap 23. The rookie was keep pushing through the second half of the feature, but ultimately crossed the finish line in 12th.

Starting 11th for the second 35-lap feature, he would fall back a couple spots on the initial start, but avoided a couple incidents ahead of him to move up to 11th by the halfway mark. He would continue to move forward, making his way into the top-10 by Lap 21. His efforts would pay off, as he’d ultimately cross the finish line with a ninth-place finish.

For Sikes, it marks his third top-10 of the season, following a pair of top-10 finishes for the rookie on opening night.

With twin 35-laps feature on deck for Saturday, August 3 at Sunset Speedway, Sikes will hope to combine patience with speed, and be there when it counts at the checkered flag with a solid run.
