With a couple of races in the books for each of the OSCAAR divisions, the championship battles in each class are beginning to take shape. Ahead of a busy weekend with the both the Modifieds and Hot Rods in action, here is an update.
Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR Modified Series
Following a runner-up at Sunset Speedway, Kelly Balson holds a six point advantage over Shawn Chenoweth. Notably, Chenoweth’s No. 89 Modified won the feature at Sunset presented by Obsessed Details, but with Andy Kamrath at the wheel.
Jason Keen currently sits third, followed by A.J. Emms and Anthony DiBello, with the championship wide open as the top-five are only separated by 21 points. Luke Gignac sits sixth in points, followed by Norman Newman, Brad Pearsall, Gary Elliott, and John Harper.
Alternatively, Newman leads DiBello by two points in the MavTV Canada Rookie of the Year Standings following the first two features of 2019. Bryan Batty and Jim Bowman round out the rookie points.
In the newly added John Harper Hard Charger Award standings, Dale Reinhart leads Balson by three points. Bryan Batty sits third, followed by Chenoweth, Jase Cornell, and Norman Newman. The top-six are just separated by six points.
The Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR Modifieds are back in action on Friday, July 12 at Delaware Speedway, with their feature presented by The Fyre Place and Patio Shop.
Knightworks Design, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR Hot Rod Series
Two-time and defending series champion Tyler Hawn currently leads Steve Book by 34 points following this past weekend’s third event of 2019 at Peterborough Speedway presented by Apsley Peterborough Transport.
Two-time heat winner Dalen Martin sits third in points, followed by Nick Clarke and Jeremy McLean. The battle is on for spots third through fifth, with those drivers separated by just 31 points. Brandon Robertson sits sixth, followed by Dan Rothwell, Robert Robinson, Jerry Broom, Sean Walker, and Rodney Rutherford.
Alternatively, Robertson leads Rutherford by a single point in the Ohsweken Speedway Rookie of the Year standings, following their third feature of 2019. Dalen Martin sits third, followed by Bob Parsons and Sean Walker. Robert Robinson sits sixth, followed by Leroy Robinson, Greg Belyea, Bradley Holt, and Ryan Cowan.
In the newly added John Harper Hard Charger Award standings, Adrian Foster leads Steve Book by two points. Brandon Robertson sits third, followed by Jerry Broom and Leroy Robinson. The top-five are within nine points.
The Knightworks Design, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR Hot Rod Series is back in action on Saturday, July 13 at Brighton Speedway. Their event is being sponsored by Excess Storage, McDonald’s of Brighton, and Just Like Home Dog Care Center.
Living Lighting Canada, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR Pro Sprints
After winning both features at Sunset Speedway and Grand Bend Speedway, Daniel Hawn currently leads the standings by 13 points over James Stanley. Ryan Battilana sits third, followed by Rob Summers and Jaden Riddell. The top-five are within 22 points of each other.
Brad Holmes currently sits sixth, followed by Gary Triska, Tyler Cullen, Kevin Taylor, and Dylan Little.
Alternatively, Brad Holmes leads the Hinkley Lighting Rookie of the Year Standings by three points over Little. Russ Couture sits third, followed by Owen Elliott and Rob McCall.
In the newly added John Harper Hard Charger Award standings, Jaden Riddell leads Hawn by two points. Ryan Battilana sits third, followed by Tyler Cullen and James Stanley. The top-five are within 11 points of each other.
The Living Lighting, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR Pro Sprints will be back in action on July 20 at Sunset Speedway with their 25-lap feature presented by Wild Wing of Woodbridge.
