The Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park Late Models continue to deliver some of the best short track racing in the province, as Saturday night’s 50 lapper came down to a battle between two front runners.
Rick Spencer-Walt has been on a roll lately, and that did not stop on Saturday night. Starting in the fifth spot, he’d make his way through the field, using a restart at the halfway mark to take over the top spot. However, the battle for the lead would not end there as Travis Hallyburton would continue to challenge Spencer-Walt for first, with bumps traded in the process.
Despite several bumps to the rear-end, Spencer-Walt held onto the lead, scoring the victory to the checkered flag. It marks the third straight week in a row that he has visited victory lane, with only one finish outside of the top-four in nine races this season.
Travis Hallyburton finished second for his sixth top-five finish, with Dwayne Baker in third for his fifth top-five. Paul Maltese finished fourth for a season-best performance, with Chris Morrow rounding out the top-five subbing for Gord Shepherd.
Ron Quesnelle finished sixth for his eight top-10 finish, followed by Thayne Hallyburton, Billy Zardo, Mike Wilkinson, and Ernie Fumerton. Daniel Montanari finished 11th, followed by Robbie Sikes, Stefan Semeraro, Chris McIssac, and Ashley Muttart.
Heat victories went to Dwayne Baker, Ernie Fumerton, Thayne Hallyburton, and Rick Spencer-Walt
Rick Spencer-Walt now leads Gord Shepherd by 15 points going into the off-weekend.
