After seeing their first two races of 2019 get canceled due to weather, the Living Lighting, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd. OSCAAR Pro Sprints are set to get back in action this weekend at Sunset Speedway, with their feature presented by TXM Motorsports and Wild Wing of Woodbridge.
Daniel Hawn enters the event as the favorite as he has won all four features ran at Sunset Speedway for the OSCAAR Pro Sprints. He won the championship last season following 10 victories and 13 top-five’s in 13 races.
On the flip side, James Stanley could be the next driver to break into victory lane after nine straight top-five’s to close out the 2018 campaign. He has ran well at Sunset Speedway previously, scoring a third-place finish in the inaugural event with three top-four finishes in four races.
Rob Summers hopes to get back running competitively in the top-five following just one of those last season. He has a sixth and pair of sevenths in three Sunset Speedway appearances.
Gary Triska will be looking for another top-10 this weekend after scoring 10 straight to close out the 2018 campaign. He has finished in the top-10 in each of his previous appearances at the Innisfil, Ontario oval, including an eighth-place finish at the Velocity 250.
Ryan Battilana will hope to score his first career OSCAAR victory this weekend, following five podium finishes in the last six races last season. He has finished inside the top-four in each of his four starts at Sunset Speedway, including a runner-up in the first Velocity 250 feature.
Jaden Riddell will be looking for his fourth career OSCAAR Pro Sprint victory after becoming the series’ youngest winner last year with three wins in his rookie campaign. Although he has yet to visit the winner’s circle at Sunset Speedway, he was on the podium for both Velocity 250 features with a runner-up to Hawn in the second feature.
Kevin Taylor hopes to start off the season strongly behind the wheel of his brand new car, after just one finish outside of the top-13 last year. In his 2018 rookie campaign, Sunset Speedway marked the sight of his best-career finish with a fifth in the Spring Velocity.
The battle for the Hinkley Lighting Rookie of the Year Award will be one to watch all season long, with three drivers in contention – Dylan Little, Brad Holmes, and Rob McCall. Each of these competitors has experience behind the wheel of midgets, through the Outlaw Midget series. Little experienced his rookie Outlaw campaign last year, while Holmes and McCall are past race winners.
You also have to put Russ Couture in the mix of the Hinkley Lighting Rookie of the Year discussion as he will be making his series debut at Sunset Speedway. He enters the OSCAAR ranks following experience in bone stock competition at Innisfil, Ontario oval.
Beyond the drivers mentioned here, there are others who have a potential of appearing and making things interesting. Make sure to come out to Sunset Speedway on Saturday, June 29 to witness all of the action for yourself.
On top of the excitement of the Pro Sprint event, the night should be filled with excitement with both the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds and Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rods also on-hand. There is also a fan appreciation autograph session scheduled for intermission.
