Tom Walters Goes Flag-To-Flag at Sunset Speedway

Grabbing the lead off of the initial green, Tom Walters led flag-to-flag en route to winning the St. Onge Recreation Super Stock feature.

The first heat did not start off well, with Gerrit Tiemersma spinning in turn one courtesy of contact from Marty Monette. Coltin Everingham picked up the checkered flag ahead of Dustyn Mombourquette and Tiemersma.

Tom Walters won the second heat ahead of Frank Davey, Brandon Passer, Ethan Constable, and Dan Robb.

Gerrit Tiemersma won the third heat ahead of Mombourquette, Everingham, and Monette.

Tom Walters went for the daily double ahead of Passer, Davey, Constable, and Robb.

Come feature time, Coltin Everingham led Tom Walters, Dustyn Mombourquette, Gerrit Tiemersma, Frank Davey, Brandon Passer, Ethan Constable, Dan Robb, and Marty Monette.

Tom Walters would  grab the early advantage on the opening lap ahead of Everingham, with Mombourquette and Tiemersma side-by-side for third ahead of Davey and Passer. However, the caution would come out for Monette going around.

Tom Walters got a good restart, with Mombourquette alongside Everingham for second ahead of Davey and Tiemersma. Behind them, Constable and Passer battled for sixth, with Constable getting the spot on Lap 6 ahead of Passer, Robb, and Monette. Constable’s advantage wouldn’t last long, though, with Passer getting back by for sixth two laps later.

Mombourquette would clear Everingham for second on Lap 9, with Davey and Passer following sguit at the halfway mark. Davey continued to move forward, getting alongside Mombourquette for second at Lap 14, with Passer taking the pair three-wide two laps later. This allowed Mombourquette to hang on to second with seven laps to go ahead of Davey, Passer and Tiemersma as Constable and Everingham battled for sixth.

Passer then moved his way forward, passing Davey for third with four laps to go, before getting alongside Mombourqutte for second. He was then able to complete the pass for the runner-up spot with two laps to go.

Tom Walters picked up the win ahead of Brandon Passer, Frank Davey, Dustyn Mombourquette, Gerrit Tiemersma, Coltin Everingham, Ethan Constable, Dan Robb, and Marty Monette.
