Jake Sheridan Answers Back in Grisdale Showdown Series at Flamboro Speedway

MILLGROVE, Ontario —- Through five rounds of the Grisdale Showdown Series at Flamboro Speedway, it has been the story of two drivers – Shae Gemmell and Jake Sheridan. After Gemmell won the last two rounds, Sheridan shot back his response by picking up the checkered flag on Saturday, August 8.

Laying down the fifth-quickest time in qualifying, Sheridan found himself on the front row for the feature after the invert and took advantage of the track position. He took the lead on the opening lap of the 50-lap feature and did not look back en route to snagging the victory. Shawn Chenoweth was second ahead of Shae Gemmell, who had set the quick time earlier in the day. Blair Wickett and Gerrit Tiemermsa completed the top-five. Billy Zardo rebounded from an incident for sixth in front of Kevin Albers, Josh Gruntz, Kevin Gallant, Tyler Di Venanzo, and Billy Schwartzenburg. Di Venanzo’s day ended on Lap 19 after an incident on-track.

Maddux Pepin scored his first career Ontario Pro Challenge Series feature in the first feature ahead of Travis Majuery, Tim Norris, Jae Pepin, and Mike Norris. Emma Norris was sixth in front of Blake Near, Colton Clark, Mike O’Connell, Mike Gilmour, Sterling Hattin and Ethan Fleet.

Taking the lead in the final couple of laps, Mike Norris won the second Ontario Pro Challenge Series feature ahead of Blake Near, Tim Norris, Jae Pepin, and Travis Majuery. Sterling Hattin battled to sixth in front of Colton Clark, Mike Gilmour, Mike O’Connell, Emma Norris, and Maddux Pepin. Emma and Maddux were involved in an incident together on Lap 18.

Jesse Kennedy took the lead with three laps to go to win the opening Great Lakes Legend Series feature ahead of Austin Arnel, Dave Sharpe, Nathan Killins, and Josh Hostelle. Brandon Vanderwel battled inside the top-five early, fading back to sixth in front of Todd Tolton, Bob Bailey, RJ Hrevnak, Gillian Hils, and Kent Robson.

Austin Arnel led the second half of the second Legend feature en route to the checkered flag ahead of Jesse Kennedy, Dave Sharpe, Todd Tolton, and RJ Hrevnak. Gillian Hils battled her way forward for sixth in front of Nathan Killins, Josh Hostelle, Bob Bailey, Brandon Vanderwel, and Kent Robson.

Elliott Stacey won the opening Great Lakes Legends Charger feature ahead of Amber Wallis and Ryland Bailey, while Amber Wallis won the second feature in front of Ryland Bailey and Elliott Stacey.

Chase Mitchell took the lead on Lap 10, and did not look back en route to winning the opening Hogan Law & McClurkin Properties of Cambridge Pure Stock feature ahead of Hailey Hill, Brandyn Milligan, John Cote, and Chance Rogers. Megan Mitchell ran inside the top-five early, fading back to sixth in front of Spencer Riddell, Leo Labarbera, Rodney Rutherford, and Rick Mitchell. Cam Thomson was 11th, followed by Mark Allan, Matt Young, Rachel Mitchell, Randy Rodgers, and William Young.

Matt Young rebounded from contact in the first feature well in the second event, taking the lead at the halfway mark and pacing the rest of the way en route to the victory. His Blue Streak Contracting Brandyn Milligan teammate was second ahead of Spencer Riddell, Cam Thomson, and Rodney Rutherford. Leo Labarbera was sixth in front of Rachel Mitchel, Rick Mitchell, Chase Mitchell, and John Cote. Chance Rogers ran inside the top-10, fading late for 11th, followed by Hailey Hill, Megan Mitchell, Mark Allan, Randy Rodgers, and William Young.

The next event scheduled at Flamboro Speedway is Saturday, August 15, with Meet the Drivers Night, featuring an on-track autograph session at intermission. It is also Reunion Night, presented by the Flamboro Speedway Hall of Fame. The on-track action will feature the Steel City Super Stocks, Grindstone Landscaping Canadian Vintage Modifieds, Klotz Auto Repair Mini Stocks & Hogan Law & McClurkin Properties of Cambridge Pure Stocks.
