DURHAM, Ontario —- There may be only two races in the books for The Fyre Place & Patio Shop OSCAAR Hot Rods presented by Bromley Automotive, but the storylines are already building with the action that has happened on-track.
The next chapter will be written at the tight confines of Full Throttle Motor Speedway on Saturday, July 18. There are several drivers to watch in the field that will be contending for the win once the The Car Guy green flag waves.
Trevor Thompson has yet to be a part of one of the Hot Rod events at FTMS, but do not let that fool you into thinking he may not contend for the win. The driver of the No. 00 Camaro has been consistent with the tour, scoring seven top-10’s in his last eight series appearances, with 26 top-10’s in 31 career starts.
Tyler Hawn enters the weekend to improve upon how his season has started with a pair of seventh-place finishes in the first two events. He has run well at FTMS previously, with a pair of third-place finishes in his most recent appearances.
Drew Richardson has been consistent throughout his OSCAAR career, scoring seven top-10’s in his last 10 series appearances. This stretch has included a fifth-place finish last year at FTMS.
Ryan Cowan has shown speed in the past with the tour, as evident by posting 20 top-10 finishes in 53 career starts. He knows his way around the quarter-mile, as evident by a fifth-place finish in 2023.
Steve Book has shown speed at Full Throttle in the past, as evident by no finishes worse than ninth in three appearances, including a pair of top-fives. He has also started off this year on a good note, picking up a fourth and sixth.
Thomas Wunsch has been the driver to watch to start off 2026, as evident by a third at Sauble Speedway before picking up his first career series victory at Delaware Speedway. He can get the job done at FTMS as evident by being a past track champion, and a trio of top-10 finishes in the series’ appearances there.
The father-son Brian Wilson and Brian Wilson Jr. duo have been solid this year, scoring a pair of 11th-place finishes in the first two events. They both know their way around the quarter-mile by calling it their home track for a number of years.
Jay Doerr was able to rebound at Delaware Speedway with a solid fourth-place finish, and will hope to carry that momentum into his first trip to Full Throttle.
The 2026 rookie class of drivers will certainly be catching the attention of several fans in attendance, as these competitors come with a variety of past experience in racing.
Both Jacob Booth and Daniel Hawn proved the battle for Rookie of the Year honors will be on-going all season, as evident by both scoring top-10 finishes in the first two events of the season.
Ayden McNicol made the jump into the Hot Rods following a successful season of Bone Stock competition at Full Throttle Motor Speedway, and showed promise at Sauble in putting together a solid day to place 12th.
Rob Bromley enters the weekend as someone to watch as evident by winning the feature last season to visit Knightworks Design victory lane. He began the season with a runner-up finish at Sauble Speedway.
