INNISFIL, Ontario — He may not have been the quickest in qualifying, but the same sight was still witnessed at the end of 50 laps with Andy Kamrath claiming the victory in the Seaton Structures Modifieds feature on Sunday at Sunset Speedway, the first of three as part of the NTN 50k Shootout.
Kamrath laid down a lap of 14.525 seconds, placing him on the outside of the front row for the start of the event, alongside Chad Strawn who was quickest at 14.474 seconds. They did not stay side-by-side long, with Kamrath taking the lead on the second lap. He then led the remaining 49 laps, marking his second straight victory in a row.
TJ Edwards was able to make his way forward, passing Strawn for second and looked to poise to close the gap for the lead. However, he was unable to get down within five car lengths, resulting in a runner-up finish.
Chad Strawn faded back, though held off Shawn Murray and Rick Spencer-Walt who were nipping at his bumper the final 10 laps.
Herb Walters and Wally Wilson rounded out the field.
