INNISFIL, Ontario — Despite showing speed and entering with high hopes, it turned into a day of mechanical gremlins for Wally Wilson Racing at Sunset Speedway this past Saturday.

Behind the wheel of a new car for the team, Wilson was ready to put it through its paces in practice. Unfortunately, it did not go as planned with losing all the belts. With helps from Fred Holdaway, Doug, Jordy, and Paul, they were able to get the car back together for the night ahead.

Wilson laid down a lap of 15.061 seconds in time trials to place him fifth on the board, with an invert of five putting him on pole for the 35-lap feature. He looked to take advantage of the track position, though faded back as he battled overheating issues. Wilson made a trip down pit road to take the hood off in hopes of cooling the modified off, but was forced to retire before the checkered flag was waved.
