Rick Spencer-Walt Completes 2022 with Three Top-Eight’s in Three Different Cars

PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — The final two weeks of the 2022 campaign proved to be busy for Spencer-Walt Motorsports, with Rick Spencer-Walt driving three different racecars en route to a trio of top-eight finishes.

While in attendance for the first day of Frostoberfest at Flamboro Speedway on Saturday, October 1, Spencer-Walt was offered a Qwick Wick OSCAAR Hot Rod ride by Steve Book. The qualifying heats did not go smoothly, resulting in him starting 18th for the 30-lap feature.

He would work his way up to 13th in the first five laps, and continued to move forward through the duration of the event en route to a seventh-place finish.

He was also offered a Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modified to drive on the same day, courtesy of ADAMS Motorsports. He started off the afternoon by placing sixth and second in his qualifying heats, setting him to start eighth for the 40-lap feature. He was unable to make up much ground throughout the feature, crossing the finish line in eighth.

He hoped to carry the momentum into the second day of Frostoberfest on Sunday, October 2, where he’d be back behind the wheel of the Spencer-Walt Motorsports Super Stock. Posting the ninth lap in qualifying, there was confidence going into the feature. Unfortunately, he ran into mechanical issues rolling to the green flag, with a suspension piece breaking and forcing him to head pit side before the start.

He made the trip to Peterborough Speedway a week later for the Autumn Colours Classic, looking for redemption at an event he’s won before. He started off the weekend placing seventh in his heat on Friday night, followed by a victory in qualifying on Saturday.

Starting up front for the feature, he ran sixth in the early stages, breaking into the top-five on Lap 4. He used a restart at Lap 8 to move up to fourth, followed by pass for third at Lap 23. He was ready to pounce on the leaders, but was forced down pit road under a Lap 38 caution for a flat tire.

Restarting tail of the field, he escaped the pair of incidents that happened in the following restarts, running sixth with 11 laps to go. He utilize the next restart to move up into third, ready to challenge for the lead. After watching one of the leaders drop out, he seized the opportunity in battling for the top spot. There was a bit of contact along the way, but ultimately he came up one spot short with a second-place finish.

The No. 31W Super Stock visited feature victory lane over the weekend, with Cayden Lapcevich scoring the victory in the Young Gun Showcase on Friday night at Peterborough Speedway.

The Super Stock effort is thanks to sponsorship from ImageWraps.ca, Hwy 400 Transmission, and Great Lakes Concrete.
