INNISFIL, Ontario — Despite feeling a big challenge through the final laps of the feature, Jake Spencer-Walt held on to score his second career feature victory on Saturday night.
Starting on pole, Spencer-Walt drove himself out to a sizable lead through the first half in front of Keegan Moat and Morgan Moore. But battling a loose racecar off the corners, Spencer-Walt began to back down his speed, allowing Moat to close the gap. Moat found himself within striking distance with a couple laps remaining. He would make his move as the field went through turn four with two laps to go, though got loose himself and went around for a spin.
A green-white-checkered restart would see the pair of youngsters battle once again for the top spot, with Spencer-Walt holding on for the victory as Keegan Moat went around for a second time. Moat was credited with second, while Morgan Moore placed third.
The consistency all season, combined with a pair of victories to cap off the year, resulted in Jake Spencer-Walt being crowned the 2022 Sunset Speedway Jr Late Model Champion.
