INNISFIL, Ontario — The late nights in the shop are beginning to pay off for Chris Allard, as evident with a top-five on Saturday night against one of the steepest fields of the season.
The night did not start off as well, as he led the first three laps of his first heat, before fading back for a fourth. He then put together a solid second qualifier, eyes focused on a strong run in the feature.
Being strong and consistent all season allotted him a strong starting spot, which he took full advantage of as Allard put the No. 76 out front on the opening lap. He would easily pace the first 10 laps, before finding himself in a battle for the lead.
A restart in the midst of the battle brought a couple other fast cars into the equation, with Allard ultimately dropping back to third. He would try to work his way back forward in the laps which followed, however instead falling back a bit more to cross the finish line with a fifth-place finish.
It marks his ninth straight top-10.
