INNISFIL, Ontario — Another week of competition in the books at Sunset Speedway, and it was a successful night for SKLD Motorsports. The boys continued their consistency with top-10 finishes, while it seems to be the bad luck is turning around for Karlie Wilman.

The night did not start off smoothly, though, as Andrew Shilling suffered a flat tire in the opening heat en route to placing eighth. Austyn Jennett, meanwhile, was able to battle within the top-five for a fourth, while Wilman put together a solid fifth in her 10-lap affair.

The second round of qualifying worked out much better for the boys, as they both challenged for the win, with Jennett finishing second ahead of Shilling. Wilman was in the second qualifier of round two, scoring an eighth.

Looking to repeat the feat accomplished a couple weeks ago, Shilling began his charge towards the front right from the drop of the green flag, breaking into the top-five on Lap 7. He continued move forward, finding himself in the runner-up spot as the laps neared the end. He’d tried to close the gap on the leader, coming up short with a second-place finish.

Jennett was fortunate to start up front for the 20-lap affair and looked to take advantage of the track position by remaining inside the top-five through the opening seven laps. Unfortunately, he would begin to face issues of his own, fading in the second half en route to seventh.

With the car underneath her, Wilman was looking forward to being part of the conversation during the feature. She showed speed as she gained positions in searching for the top-10, though also found herself deep in traffic. There was some contact along the way, resulting in being sent to the back for a couple restarts, but she kept battling to a 15th-place finish.

SKLD Motorsports is proud to be supported by Wilman Haulage, Hamilton Contracting, Able Taxi, The Canoe, SMG Motorsports, Brent Harrison, and Short Track Musings.
