PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — Battling up front throughout the night, Rick Spencer-Walt was able to score a top-five finish on Saturday night at Peterborough Speedway.
Spencer-Walt started off the night by posting a lap of 13.359 seconds in time trials, landing him the sixth quickest lap of the session.
The invert would see him roll off from the third row in fifth, with him gaining a spot to spend the early laps in fourth. Running solidly, looking to be there for the end of the event, he would drop back a couple spots in the middle portion of the 100-lap feature, fading back to eighth by Lap 37. However, as the laps clicked off past the halfway mark, he was able to avoid issues which took out his competitors and make a couple passes to break back into the top-five.
He would try to make his way forward following a late-race restart, ultimately crossing the finish line in the fourth position.
So far this year, he has only scored one finish outside of the top-five this season in five races. He currently sits third in the APC Auto Parts United Late Model Series standings, 12 points behind J.R. Fitzpatrick.
The fourth race of the APC Series schedule is set to take place at Delaware Speedway on Canada Day weekend on Saturday, July 2.
