INNISFIL, Ontario — The momentum carries forward for Jake Spencer-Walt, as he picked up his first podium finish on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
Spencer-Walt started off the night with speed, picking up a runner-up finish in the first heat. He then backed it up with a third in the second qualifier.
Starting on pole for the feature, he led the field into the first turns, ultimately dropping back to second by the first caution at Lap 2. He got a good restart, maintaining his position through the following yellow flag four laps later, battling side-by-side for the spot afterwards. Ultimately, the car he was battling with went around on Lap 10, with Spencer-Walt being deemed an involved car. As a result, he would be forced to the tail end of the field.
Restarting from the back, he was able to make his moves quickly, retaking fourth just a couple laps later. He continued to move forward, making the move for third with just four laps to go. Time would run out to catch the pair ahead of him, with Spencer-Walt crossing the finish line in third.
It marks his second top-five of 2022 following a fifth on opening night.
