LONDON, Ontario — Despite being his first trip to Delaware Speedway, Rick Spencer-Walt showed speed all night long en route to a top-five in the feature.

Spencer-Walt showed speed right from the beginning, laying down a lap of 18.608 seconds in shortened practice / qualifying session. It would set him up to start 10th for the 70-lap feature, to which he would work his way up to seventh by the first yellow flag at Lap 14.

Restarting on the fourth row, he continued to battle through the next series of restarts, cracking the top-five at the one-third mark of the event. Although he was set to make a move for fourth on the fifth restart, it unfortunately would not work out. Instead, he would drop back over the course of the next handful of laps back to ninth.

Despite the setback, the past late model champion remained focused, and it paid off. He was able to utilize the couple of late-race restarts, and avoid misfortune for another competitor ahead of him to move back up through the running order. He ultimately crossed the checkered flag with a fifth-place finish.

It also marks his third top-five of 2022 following a third and a victory at Sunset Speedway to kick off the year.

Spencer-Walt will be back with the APC Series tour at Flamboro Speedway on June 4.
