2nd In Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modified Points – Andy Kamrath

With victories in five of the events this past season, Andy Kamrath proved he was fast throughout the entire Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds presented by Just Foam It campaign.

Unfortunately, the year did not start off as he would’ve hoped. A blown motor in practice for the opener at Sunset Speedway saw the No. 89c fail to take the green flag in qualifying, or the feature later that afternoon. Returning back to the Innisfil facility two weeks later, he made a statement immediately as after starting on pole, he led flag-to-flag through the 40-lap feature.

He then carried the momentum to Sauble Speedway and despite starting 13th, he would make his way through the field quickly to take the top spot on a restart at the halfway mark. He then led the remaining laps to score his second straight victory.

Back at Sunset to start the four-race stretch to finish the season, he scored a victory in qualifying to start pole for the feature. He took the early advantage in hand, pacing the first half of the event before slowing with a mechanical issue. He was able to make it pit road, though never returned on-track, credited with a 22nd-place finish.

The team made the necessary repairs in the week following, bringing a bullet to Delaware Speedway. The Instant Classic won his qualifying heat, and escaped a wreck on the first lap ahead of him in the feature to take over the top spot. From there, he was able to drive away from the field en route to victory.

The momentum followed him to Flamboro Speedway, as he won another qualifier, before taking the lead in the feature with a three-wide move on the opening lap. It was the same story as a week before, with him cruising to another win.

Kamrath started off the season finale at Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic on a high, with another heat victory. He took the green flag in third for the 50-lap feature, utilizing a three-wide move once again, this time on the second lap to take over the lead. Although his competition was able to close the gap in the final laps, it was not enough as he capped off 2021 in victory lane.

Throughout the 2021 campaign, Kamrath proved to be one of the guys to beat all year round, no matter what track he went to. If he can put together a full season without issues, expect him to be tough to beat for the championship.

The 2021 OSCAAR Modified season is sponsored by Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC, Just Foam It, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd., The Fyre Place & Patio Shop, American Racer, and Grisdale Race Products.
