Consistency all season long, combined with a couple trips to victory lane allowed Tyler Hawn to put one of the best Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rod seasons together en route to a runner-up in the standings.
Hawn started off the year on a high note by running inside the top-five throughout the opener at Sunset Speedway en route to third. He returned to the Innisfil facility two weeks later, avoiding the chaos that ensued throughout the feature to move his way forward to place second. He scored a heat victory at Brighton Speedway, but had to rebound for a fourth following an early race spin.
The annual trip to the beach in Sauble Speedway would see the No. 2 begin to hit his stride. He would move into the runner-up spot on the eighth lap, keeping close tabs on the leader in looking for a way by, before taking advantage on a late-race restart to score the victory.
He carried the momentum to Peterborough Speedway, taking the lead on Lap 5 and not looking back en route to a dominating victory.
It appeared as though he’d make it three in a row at Sunset after taking the top spot on Lap 21. However he caught in the final laps, with contact being made in the battle for the lead, resulting in a third instead.
After a week of hard work and repairs in the shop, he ran inside the top-five throughout the day at Delaware Speedway en route to fourth. He worked his way forward to put himself in contention at Flamboro Speedway, though was unable to challenge for the top spot, placing third.
Returning to Peterborough, Hawn made his way quickly to the front of the field in the opening laps of the feature, though was not able to track down and pass Jaeger McMaster for the top spot en route to a runner-up.
With Hawn Motorsports set to move onto a new chapter for the upcoming 2022 campaign, everybody within OSCAAR wishes them the best and success – while cherishing the accomplishments made along the way.
