Debuting a brand new car this year with a historical twist, Ryan Cowan was able to put together some of his best Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rod Series performances.
Cowan started off the year on a low note, running into mechanical issues at the season opener. He returned to Sunset Speedway two weeks later, keeping himself out of trouble for a solid 14th-place finish.
The series’ lone event on the dirt took place a week later at Brighton Speedway, and Cowan was able to shine. He turned a third-place finish in his heat into running inside the top-five of the entire feature as high as second en route to a fifth. He battled once again up front a week later on the hard top at Sauble Speedway, before fading back for a ninth. The consistency followed him to Peterborough Speedway to round out August with a 10th.
Unfortunately, the good fortune did not follow him back to Sunset for Fall Velocity, as he placed 20th after starting deep in the field. He then got caught up in an early wreck at Flamboro Speedway a couple weeks later, finishing 18th.
He would cap off the season with a 16th-place finish at Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic.
Despite some bad luck, Cowan was able to showcase speed in his new build, which shows promise to be a front runner in the years to come.
