By The Numbers: Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rods Season

Beginning in May at Sunset Speedway, the stars of the Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rod would visit six different tracks and host nine races en route to crowning a champion at Peterborough Speedway in October.

Consistency has been the name of the game for Steve Book since he started in the series, and it led him to success this past season en route to being crowned the 2021 OSCAAR Hot Rod Champion.

As we take a look back at the season, here are some numbers to consider.

2nd is the best average finish of any driver, set by Brandon Crumbie and his lone start at Brighton Speedway

2 feature wins for Tyler Hawn and Steve Book led all drivers

2nd in the opener at Sunset Speedway was Amanda Balson’s season-best finish.

2 feature top-10’s was the name of the game for Gary Hannah

2.56 is the best average finish of any driver to run all nine races, set by Hawn

3rd is the second-best average finish of any driver to run all nine races, set by Book

3 points was all that separated Jeremy McLean and Book for the John Harper Hard Charger Award

3 feature top-10’s was the name of the game for Ryan Cowan

4 different drivers scored more than two feature top-five’s – Hawn, Book, Trevor Thompson, and Jesse Kennedy

4th is the fourth-best average finish of any driver, set by Jaeger McMaster, across three starts

4th is where Herb Walters finished in his lone start this season at Peterborough Speedway

4 different drivers scored more than four feature top-10’s – Hawn, Book, Thompson, and McLean

4th at Sunset Speedway in August was Rob Bromley’s season-best finish

4 heat wins for Hawn, Balson, and Book led all drivers

5 different drivers scored more than seven heat top-five’s – Hawn, Book, Balson, Thompson, and Dave Waite

5th was McLean’s best finish en route to finishing fifth.

5 feature top-five’s was the name of the game for Thompson

6 points was all that separated Thompson and Balson for the Living Lighting Rookie of the Year honors

6.4 is the fifth-best average finish of any driver, set by Kennedy and Dalen Martin, across five starts each

7 different drivers won a feature

8 different drivers won more than two heats

8sr of Paul Senior scored his first career victory in September at Sunset Speedway

9 feature top-five’s for Hawn led all drivers, giving him a perfect season

9 feature top-10’s for Hawn and Book led all drivers, giving them perfect seasons

12 heat top-five’s for Hawn and Book led all drivers

13 different drivers scored a heat victory

17 points was all that separated Book and Hawn at season’s end

20 different drivers scored a feature top-five

26 of Martin scored his first career victory in October at Flamboro Speedway

74 of McMaster scored his first career victory in October at Peterborough Speedway

77 of Kyle Fetterly scored his first career victory in August at Sunset Speedway
