Coltin Everingham Scores Heat Victory at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario — Performing double duty at Sunset Speedway’s Fall Velocity weekend, Coltin Everingham battled hard despite being faced with adversity throughout.

Behind the wheel of the modified, he started off the weekend on a high with a third-place finish in the first heat, though ran into mechanical issues in the second which forced him to pull off the track early.

Starting 11th for the 40-lap feature, he avoided an incident ahead of him on the opening lap, working his way up to 10th by the second caution at Lap 8. He got a good restart, moving into seventh by the third yellow flag at Lap 13.

Restarting on the fourth row, he dropped back a spot on the restart, before being challenged for eighth. The battle did not go according to plan, with his fellow competitor making contact with him and going around in turn one. As a result, Everingham was sent to the back as an involved car.

Restarting tail of the field, he made a late aggressive charge through the field to try and make up the lost track position, ultimately crossing the finish line in 12th.

Behind the wheel of his Pro Late Model, he would post the seventh quickest lap at 14.516 seconds in time trials. He would drop back to ninth in the opening 20 laps, running 10th when the yellow flag waved at Lap 30 for debris. He got a good restart to regain ninth, though ultimately headed down pot road with mechanical issues on Lap 43 to end his feature early.

Everingham will be back behind the wheel for the next Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds presented by Just Foam It race at Delaware Speedway on September 25. It will mark his first appearance at the half-mile behind the wheel of a modified, after running a Pro Late Model event there earlier this year.
