INNISFIL, Ontario — Driving two totally different cars at two separate tracks this past weekend, Coltin Everingham picked up a heat win and pair of top-five finishes.
With Sunset Speedway raining out Saturday night, Everingham Racing made the late decision to make the haul to Flamboro Speedway for their double-header late model features.
Starting seventh in the first feature, Everingham worked his way up to fifth in the early stages. However, he would pull into the pits on Lap 18 with a potential mechanical issue, ultimately credited with a seventh-place finish.
He would return for the second feature, rolling off from seventh. He would once again work his way up to sixth in the early stages, making the move for fifth through the middle portion of the event. He’d hold on despite being on older tires, crossing the line with a top-five finish.
Returning to Sunset Speedway under better weather conditions on Sunday, Everingham was set for the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds presented by Just Foam It season opener, driving the No. 96 Modified for Wally Wilson Racing.
Starting up front in his first heat, Everingham made his way to the lead quickly, pacing the field the rest of the way en route to scoring his first career OSCAAR victory. He then backed it up with a sixth in the second qualifier.
Starting eighth in the feature, he would avoid an incident up ahead of him in the early laps to run sixth in the early stages. He would use a restart at Lap 8 to break into the top-five, though ultimately fell back to seventh by Lap 18. The middle portion would see him go back and forth with past series feature winner Brent McLean for seventh, with Everingham ultimately holding off the challenge.
There would be a late-caution, as a result of the leaders getting together while battling for the top spot. Restarting on the third row as a result, Everingham battled hard to the finish for a fifth-place finish.
Everingham will be back behind the wheel of the modified on Saturday at Peterborough Speedway, before making the trip to Sauble Speedway for their 150-lap Pro Late Model invitational on Sunday.
