Cole Quinton Kicks off Rookie Campaign with Seven Straight Top-10 Finishes

MILLGROVE, Ontario — While the task of going from go-karts to a full-size car can be daunting, Cole Quinton has been handling it well.

Although originally had been planned for the 2020 season, Quinton spent the year on the sidelines with the COVID-19 pandemic, shifting his debut to 2021.

With the ever-evolving government restrictions, Flamboro Speedway made the decision to kick off the year with one of their crown jewel events, the Grisdale Triple Crown. Rather than sitting it out, Quinton took on the challenge before him, with initial goals set on learning with each lap on the track.

The youngster would impress the whole event, qualifying ninth, before driving his way through the field to the front for a third-place finish in his debut.

Since then, Quinton has taken part in the three weekly events since, continuing to gain experience with each lap around the speedway. Despite being forced to start at the back the initial four being a rookie, he has posted no finishes outside the top-10, with a fifth on July 10.

Each weekend has brought forth positives, in gaining laps and experience, with how to pass cars and what makes the No. 18 Mustang go fast and be comfortable. There’s also been some challenges, including mechanical gremlins on week two, and a couple spins to round out the third event. Despite that, Quinton comes out of his first seven events feeling confident in his ability, and ready to continue pushing towards the front of the field.

Quinton will be back behind the wheel of his familiar No. 18 Mustang this Saturday night at Flamboro Speedway. The track is allowed to host 75% fan capacity, so please come out and cheer him on.

Even with being his first season of full-size car competition, Quinton has a lot of people behind him, from his family to the support from crew chief Erik Della Riva, who is a past division feature winner, and Team Spira team owner Ken Spira.

There’s also a lot of marketing support, as Quinton is proud to be sponsored by Wheeler Construction, Just Foam It, Spira Fire Protection, JT Excavating, Stage it with Style, Elmsa Steel, Sunvale Homes, Source for Sports, Lucas Oil, Wix Filters, Highgrade Roofing, Nick’s Journey, and Bob’s Ice Cream.
