As OSCAAR begins to put together their 2021 schedule, there’s certain things that fans are dreaming about, including the return of a certain special track. Anybody remember Kawartha Speedway?
The Fraserville, Ontario oval located inside of a horse racing track ultimately became a fan and driver favourite due to how smooth and wide the surface was, allowing for some great racing. There are those whos till pout about the fact racing has been regularly scheduled there for awhile now, except for when OSCAAR elected to rent the track for a couple one-off shows.
One of those last events came in July 2018, with Gary McLean making it to victory lane after taking the lead on Lap 10 from John Harper. Kelly Balson came third, followed by Dale Reinhart and Luke Gignac.
Past series champion Cory Horner was not far behind, scoring an eighth-place finish after battling mid-pack through the feature and being involved in the fifth caution. It was certainly not what was looking for, considering he was one of the heat winners earlier in the night.
Join us on our memorable Monday look back and relive that 50-lap feature from Horner’s on-board.
