James Stanley Hat Tricks En Route to Victory at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario — Leading the way in each lap that he was on track on Saturday, James Stanley hat tricked en route to scoring the Ontario Midget – Living Lighting OSCAAR Pro Sprints / Outlaw Midgets combined – event at Sunset Speedway.

The cautions started early in the heats, with Richard Woodland stopping in turn two, the same lap that Ryan Wardell stopped in turn four. The restart saw the yellow flag quickly return when the starter dropped the green flag on the track. James Stanley scored the win ahead of Sophie Horton, Tanner Holmes, Wardell, and Rob Harrison.

Jaden Riddell won the second qualifier ahead of Gary Triska, Ryan Battilana, Wayne McKibbon, and Kevin Taylor.

Stanley went for the daily double ahead of Horton, Holmes, Wardell, and Harrison.

Riddell also did the daily double ahead of Battilana, McKibbon, and Taylor.

Come feature time, James Stanley started pole ahead of Jaden Riddell, Sophie Horton, Ryan Battilana, Tanner Holmes, Wayne McKibbon, Ryan Wardell, Rob Harrison, Kevin Taylor, and Gary Triska.

Stanley would grab the early advantage ahead of Riddell off the drop of the green flag, with Horton and Battilana side-by-side for third. Horton would get the spot on Lap 2, with Holmes rounding out the top-five. Holmes would get alongside Battilana a lap later for fourth, completing the pass as McKibbon ran sixth.

Behind them, Triska had made his way up to seventh ahead of Taylor and Harrison. McKibbon would challenge Battilana for fifth on Lap 7, but was unable to complete the pass. Instead, Triska continued his climb forward with a pass by them both.

At the front of the field, James Stanley led the rest of the way en route to winning ahead of Jaden Riddell, Sophie Horton, Tanner Holmes, and Wayne McKibbon. Ryan Battilana finished sixth, followed by Gary Triska, Kevin Taylor, Rob Harrison, Ryan Wardell, and Richard Woodland.

The next event for the Ontario Midgets will take place at Peterborough Speedway on September 26.
