Jason Keen Hopeful for First Career Feature Victory in 2020

With each season that Jason Keen has been behind the wheel of a Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds presented by Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd, he has continued to get stronger behind the wheel. The speed he has gained through the past two years is something he hopes to turn into his first career feature victory in 2020.

Keen made his series debut in 2018, scoring three feature top-five’s and nine top-10’s, with just a single heat victory on the season. He was able to increase those numbers this past year, scoring five heat victories with five feature top-five’s and 10 feature top-10’s.

“We had a good season,” he said. “We learned a lot, again, and we’re excited about the season coming up.”

As he gets ready for his third season, he says the biggest thing that his team needs to do is figure out the fine adjustments on the car to get it dialed in for each track on the schedule.

“That’s what we’re working on during the winter time and right now, too,” he said. “I’m hoping to have another good season. I would like to win a feature race; that’d be my goal, to try to get good feature finishes.”

He knows the success won’t come easy, though, as there are “a lot of good drivers and nice equipment in the series, really competitive,” as noted with six different feature winners across 2019.

Though if there’s any place that he can get the job done, Delaware Speedway is a good place to start following success there this past season with a runner-up in August.

“I like the way the car handled at Delaware,” he commented. “It was a good race for us. We got the set-up right on, and the car was working good.”

The competition is only expected to grow, though, with a couple rookies already announcing their intentions for the new season. Early indications appear it will include familiar faces for Keen, including past fellow Canadian Vintage Modified competitors Steve Trendell and T.J. Marshall. Keen’s advice to them is, “no matter how hard the car handles at the track, keep working on it and it’ll get better.”
