After showing speed last season, McLean Motorsports is hopeful of being even stronger in this season’s Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rod Series presented by Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park competition.

“Looking forward to going out there and competing each and every night,” Jeremy McLean commented. “It’s going to be tough. There’s a lot of great drivers with good equipment in this series, but in the off season, my small team did their homework and we feel like we have something to prove. We set the bar and our expectations higher than last season so we’re looking forward to the challenge, and competing for wins.”

On top of doing his homework, McLean Motorsports has expanded their outfit in putting Darin Malcolm behind the wheel for some events this season. Combining their talents together, along with Brandon Crumbie racing once again at Brighton Speedway, McLean feels they have a great chance at running in the top-five each week.

“As far as expectations goes, just finish every race and put it on the trailer in one piece at the end of the night and keep on learning and bettering ourselves,” he added.

The 2020 schedule is set to take them across the province, visiting a bunch of top-notch facilities. Following a fifth-place finish at last year’s Spring Velocity, McLean is ready to get back to Sunset Speedway, though also is ready to head to Sauble Speedway as it’s always been a track that he has liked. The excitement doesn’t stop there, either, as Jukasa Motor Speedway is on his radar, as well.

“We have a couple top-five finishes there and it has to be one of the nicest facilities in the province,” he commented.

McLean made his mark last season, scoring six heat top-five’s and two feature top-five’s, while Crumbie piloted the No. 88 to a third-place finish at Brighton Speedway. It paid off in the standings with a year-end ranking of fifth.

As he looks towards improving this season, he notes they need to start and finish each and every event to be more successful.

“I feel we learned about the car in the off season so we should be more consistent each and every week,” he said.

For McLean, he grew up within motorsports, and began helping out on a race team at the age of 12. The opportunity led to being able to turn some laps behind the wheel, followed by getting his own racecar when he was 14 after hounding his dad.

While noting that he has made several memories through the years, he notes finishing second in points and getting his first win right off the bat in his first year of competition certainly ranks up there.

With his experience through the years, his advice to others getting their feet wet is don’t expect too much, too soon.

“Success comes with experience,” he commented. “Always keep an open mind and never stop learning, and most of all, just have fun.”
