One of those contenders, Robb Starr, is hoping that he can be part of the discussion all season long.
“My thoughts going into this season are to have fun and enjoy having my family out to watch me race again,” he said.
He says the decision to enter the Hot Rod class this season was easy.
“I chose to go the hot rod direction because the look and body style of the cars, and it’s also affordable,” he commented. “A few guys can get together build a car, have fun, be competitive and not break the bank in the process.”
Right now, the team has begun putting together a 1975 Chevrolet Nova for the season.
“We will be looking for and older Chevy body style to replace the current body for upcoming years,” he added. “At the time we purchased the car, this was the only body style available to us.”
Entering the season, he notes while his goal is to run at the front of the pack, he is more so expecting to just have fun, and meet some new friends while enjoying racing.
The 2020 campaign will see him cross the province, visiting many of the Ontario’s premiere tracks. For Starr, he’s looking forward to getting to the two biggest ovals on the calendar.
“I am looking most forward to driving at my home track Delaware Speedway and Jukasa Motor Speedway formerly Cayuga,” he said.
For Starr, he got his start in racing 38 years ago at the age of 15.
“My father and grandfather were racers so it was in my blood to continue,” he commented. “I have not raced in roughly 15 years but was thinking it was about time to take one last kick at the can!”
Through the years, he admits that there have been several memorable racing moments to his career.
“I am just thankful to everyone who has helped and stood with me throughout all my racing,” he added.
