Overcoming adversity and battling up front throughout the season, Jeremy McLean was rewarded for his efforts with a fifth-place finish in the Knightworks Design, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR Hot Rod standings.
He would start off the season strong, making his way up through the top-10 to score a fifth-place finish in the first feature of the season at Jukasa Motor Speedway. Unfortunately, he was unable to find the same luck at Sunset Speedway, pulling down pit road before the race started with mechanical issues. The second visit to the Innisfil-based oval found more bad luck, with McLean breaking a transmission in practice.
He was able to make the necessary repairs to have the car ready for the Hot Rod’s lone dirt event at Brighton Speedway, to which he handed over driving duties to Brandon Crumbie. Battling inside the top-four all feature long, he was able to score a third-place finish.
McLean returned to the driver’s seat at Jukasa at the end of August, once again showing good speed behind the wheel. He was able to miss the big wreck mid-way through the event en route to a fifth-place finish.
Unfortunately, he never got his redemption at Sunset Speedway, running into issues at Fall Velocity en route to finishing 16th. He then fought to find his groove at Flamboro Speedway a couple weeks later, ultimately placing 13th.
He then got caught up in the first lap wreck at Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic to finish 18th.
Despite a rough end to the season, McLean proved that he is still one of the drivers to watch each weekend as he continues to find more speed each week he comes out.
