8th in Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rod Points – Dan Rothwell

Despite a couple rough wrecks through the season, Dan Rothwell persevered to finish eighth in the year-end Knightworks Design, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR Hot Rod standings.

The season started off on a sour note for Rothwell, as he was involved in a wreck during the opening qualifying heat at Sunset Speedway’s Spring Velocity. The damage would be so severe to the car, that he would forego making the repairs, but rather purchased a fellow competitor’s car – Paul Senior’s – to drive moving forward.

Making his first start behind the wheel of his new ride, Rothwell avoided trouble through the heat races, and finished 12th in the feature despite a mid-race spin. He then gained some more speed a couple weeks later at Peterborough Speedway, en route to a 10th-place finish.

Unfortunately, the third trip to Sunset Speedway this season was a reminder of the first as Rothwell was once again involved in a significant incident in his qualifying heat race. This time, he would make the repairs to his car, returning to the series late August at Flamboro Speedway. He ran a pair of clean features en route to finishing ninth and eighth.

The post-season playoffs would not start off well, as the Sunset curse struck again for Rothwell with mechanical woes sidelining him early in the feature. However, he was able to turn his luck around with a solid 10th-place finish a couple weeks later at Flamboro.

Rothwell would then complete his season by finishing 14th at the Autumn Colours Classic, despite being involved in a mid-race incident.

Through the year, Rothwell showed grit and determination to fight back from adversity, and it paid off with a solid points finish.

On behalf of OSCAAR, congratulations on your success this season Dan Rothwell. We look forward to seeing you back on-track in 2020.
