Rick Spencer-Walt Leads Flag-to-Flag in Late Model Feature

After winning the championship, Rick Spencer-Walt capped off the 2019 campaign in style by leading every single lap in the 75-lap Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Sales Limited Late Model feature.

Dwayne Baker won the first heat ahead of Kendra Adams, Jade Franklin, Thayne Hallyburton, Coltin Everingham, Mike Wilkinson, Billy Zardo, and Jeff Richards.

Paul Geniole Jr. won the second qualifier ahead of Paul Maltese, Nick Goetz, Rick Spencer-Walt, Travis Hallyburton, and Ernie Fumerton.

The third heat featured a quick yellow flag when Adams spun Zardo in turn three. Dwayne Baker went for the daily double ahead of Wilkinson, Franklin, Thayne Hallyburton, Richards, Adams, Everingham, and Zardo.

Danny Benedict won the fourth heat ahead of Spencer-Walt, Travis Hallyburton, Goetz, Geniole Jr., Maltese, and Fumerton.

Come feature time, the action started right away with a caution on the opening lap for Jeff Richards spinning in turn two.

The second attempt to start the event went cleanly with Rick Spencer-Walt and Jade Franklin side-by-side for the top spot ahead of Dwayne Baker and Paul Geniole Jr. Geniole would then get alongside Baker for third on Lap 3, with Spencer-Walt clearing Franklin for the top spot a lap later.

Geniole would move into third on Lap 6, with Goetz alongside Baker for fourth. Geniole would then get alongside Franklin for second on Lap 7, completing the pass a lap later as Goetz moved into fourth.

With nine laps on the board, Spencer-Walt led Geniole, with Goetz and Franklin side-by-side for third. Goetz got the spot on Lap 10 bringing Danny Benedict through with him. Franklin now ran fifth ahead of Baker, as Travis Hallyburton and Paul Maltese ran side-by-side for seventh. Behind them, Thayne Hallyburton ran ninth ahead of Mike Wilkinson, Kendra Adams, Billy Zardo, Ernie Fumerton, Coltin Everingham, and Jeff Richards.

As they were battling for seventh, Travis Hallyburton and Maltese would take Baker three-wide for sixth on Lap 17. Both of them would get by, continuing their own side-by-side battle with Baker back to eighth ahead of Thayne Hallyburton and Adams. Zardo would get alongside Wilkinson for 11th on Lap 20 as Fumerton, Everingham, and Richards rounded out the field.

Travis Hallyburton would finally clear Maltese on Lap 22 for sixth with Baker continuing to run eighth ahead of Adams and Thayne Hallyburton as the battle for 11th continued. Zardo took over the spot on Lap 24 ahead of Wilkinson and Fumerton. Baker would then get alongside Maltese for seventh on Lap 25, though was unable to complete the pass.

Zardo would challenge Thayne Hallyburton for 10th on Lap 28, with Adams alongside Baker for ninth a lap later. Zardo would take over 10th on Lap 30 ahead of Hallyburton and Wilkinson.

With 31 laps on the board, Spencer-Walt continued to pace the field ahead of Geniole Jr., with Benedict alongside Goetz for third. Benedict got the spot on Lap 32 ahead of Goetz, with Travis Hallyburton alongside Franklin for fifth.

Hallyburton got the spot on Lap 34 ahead of Franklin, Maltese, Adams, Baker, Zardo, Wilkinson, Thayne Hallyburton, Fumerton, Everingham, and Richards. Adams continued to move forward, getting alongside Maltese for seventh on Lap 38, completing the pass two laps later.

With 43 laps on the board, Spencer-Walt continued to lead ahead of Geniole, Benedict, Goetz, Travis Hallyburton, Franklin, Adams, Maltese, and Baker. Adams would alongside Franklin for sixth on Lap 46, with the caution coming out a lap later for Franklin spinning Adams off of turn two.

Spencer-Walt got a good restart ahead of Geniole, as Goetz and Benedict battled for third, with Travis Hallyburton and Maltese side-by-side for fifth. Adams worked her way back up to sixth ahead of Franklin, Wilkinson, Zardo, Fumerton, Thayne Hallyburton, and Richards.

Benedict would clear Goetz for third on Lap 52, but Goetz would be right back alongside a lap later. Maltese ran solidly in fifth ahead of Travis Hallyburton and Adams, with Franklin and Wilkinson side-by-side for eighth. Franklin got the spot on Lap 55, with Baker the next to challenge Wilkinson.

Goetz would take over the third spot on Lap 56 ahead of Benedict and Maltese, with Adams alongside Maltese for fifth at Lap 57. She would be unable to get the spot, falling back in line. However, she’d get her chance once again to get back alongside when Maltese tagged the backstretch wall on Lap 59. Behind them, Travis Hallyburton ran solidly in seventh ahead of Wilkinson, Baker, Franklin, Zardo, Everingham, and Fumerton.

Adams would take over the fifth spot on Lap 63, with Travis Hallyburton next in line to challenge Maltese for position. Hallyburton got the spot three laps later, with Wilkinson looking to follow him through. He was unable to, as the third caution came out on Lap 71 for Benedict spinning Goetz in turn three.

The first attempt to restart the event would see Benedict spin un turns three and four. The second attempt saw Franklin spin in turns three and four, after trying to go three-wide with Benedict and Maltese. The third attempt produced the sixth caution, with Baker spinning Travis Hallyburton, collecting Richards, Zardo, and Goetz.

The fourth attempt would go cleanly with Spencer-Walt holding serve ahead of Geniole, as Adams and Maltese battled side-by-side for third. Adams got the spot with three laps to go, with Benedict looking to follow her through as Franklin and Goetz battled for sixth.

Rick Spencer-Walt picked up the checkered flag ahead of Paul Geniole Jr., Kendra Adams, Danny Benedict, and Paul Maltese. Nick Goetz finished sixth, followed by Jade Franklin, Dwayne Baker, Travis Hallyburton, and Mike Wilkinson. Coltin Everingham finished 11th, followed by Billy Zardo, Ernie Fumerton, Jeff Richards, and Thayne Hallyburton.
